  • Bonus Episode: 10 Days of Jacob
    Apr 16 2024
In episodes 35 and 36, back in late 2020, I told you the story of 9-month-old Jacob Landin, a tiny boy with a big laugh and an even bigger personality. Jacob died in April 1987 from a severe traumatic brain injury. When the injury occurred, he was in the care of his mom’s boyfriend, Steven Chavez, who told several different stories to Brenda Landin, medical professionals, and investigators. Despite being the only suspect, failing a polygraph, and reportedly confessing to police, Steven was never prosecuted for Jacob’s murder, and he went on to abuse and terrorize Jacob’s mom and brother for years afterward.

For this bonus episode, I spoke again with Eric Carter-Landin, Jacob’s big brother and the host of the True Consequences podcast. We discussed Eric and Brenda’s efforts to get justice for Jacob, the New Mexico Attorney General’s refusal to treat Jacob and his family with the respect they deserve, why they finally decided to name Steven after all these years, and how we can help by getting on board with the current 10 Days of Jacob campaign.

  • Episode 170: Arabella Parker, Retold (Part 2)
    Apr 14 2024
In the last episode, I told you the first part of the story of three-year-old Arabella Parker, who was rushed to the hospital on October 10, 2019, reportedly suffering from a seizure. Because medical staff wasn’t told that the seizure resulted from severe head trauma, the damage was irreparable, and Arabella died on November 22, 2019.

In this episode, I’ll take you through the hearings and the trials of the three people accused of allowing, causing, or covering up the reason for Arabella’s death: her mother, Samantha Delcamp; Samantha’s boyfriend, Jahrid Burgess; and Jahrid’s mother, Christy Willis.

In the next episode, you’ll hear my conversations with several people close to Arabella’s case.

This is part two of the complex, tragic story of Arabella Parker, retold.

  • Episode 169: Arabella Parker, Retold (Part 1)
    Apr 6 2024
Four years ago, in episodes 16 and 17, I told you the tragic story of 3-year-old Arabella Parker. Because that was so early in my podcasting journey, I’m not satisfied with my coverage of her story, so I’m revisiting it in an all-new, comprehensive re-telling as I’ve never told it before: with the help of her family and others. On October 10, 2019, Arabella reportedly suffered a seizure at her home in Trevorton, Pennsylvania. At the hospital, doctors immediately suspected child abuse based on her multitude of injuries, which included a head injury so severe that they had to remove part of Arabella’s brain. Her mother’s boyfriend, Jahrid Burgess, was arrested almost immediately. After her mother, Samantha Delcamp, gave multiple conflicting statements to police, to reporters, and even on The Steve Wilkos Show, Samantha was also arrested. When the tiny, beloved red-haired girl died after six weeks on life support, Jahrid and Samantha’s charges were upgraded to homicide. This is part one of the complex, tragic story of Arabella Parker, retold. Thanks to Magic Mind for sponsoring the show! it's not about you.

Your passion is understandable. really. But I don't expect the host to get emotionally involved in the story. it somehow takes away from the experience. therefore, I won't be listening to STLC going forward.

Miles alone on the road

First time listener and I must say this episode was the most deplorable horrible sadden case of child abuse I have ever heard of. this little boy AJ will forever have my heart and I pray his mother suffers everyday of her life. I don't ever recall getting very emotional while listening to podcasts but this one did it today as AJ's lawyer was making his closing statements and referring to being hit in the head and adding the slaps with it just broke me down. I love children all of children and I feel that anyone that abuses children should walk the flames of hell. thank you for the great listening will continue to listen you have earned another true and faithful.

Amazing Podcast!!!

Each episode is heartbreaking, but some are hard to get through hearing what people can do to poor innocent babies/children!
Lynn does an amazing job doing so much research to have all the information for each case. I enjoy that she comes back and does updates when things happen in the cases.

Tough subject, she does amazing bringing these silenced voices back. They need to be heard. Need breaks sometimes so it doesn't trigger my PTSD.

By far my favorite podcast

Love all of them. All of the cases are well researched, and Laine doesn't back down from the hard details. I can't image the toll it takes to put just one show together, much less close to 100 and still counting. thank you for doing this podcast, honey; who knows how many children you may have already saved.

My Daily Audible Go To

My favorite podcast. Every story is complete, in that, Laine includes every detail, to include, those who are left to mourn the loss of the child they loved, very thorough descriptions of the abusers past and present, other agencies that failed to help, the legal/court process, and most importantly all about the victim and who they were. Every story brings out waves of emotions from sadness to anger. Also, brings a smile to my face hearing about the precious child the victim was.

STOP with the support of craziness

The stories are good...but I don't like the options of the author. Please keep your opinions and suggestions to yourself. Most people who listen to this, are looking for an escape from political opinion. If we wanted CNN ideologies, we wouldn't be listening to podcasts!
