Sword and Scale

By: Sword and Scale
  • Summary

  • Sword and Scale is a true crime podcast covering the dark underworld of crime and the criminal justice system’s response to it. The first episode launched January 1st, 2014 and feature stories of murder, abduction, rape, and even more bizarre forms of crime. It’s the purest form of true-crime where the raw uncensored audio tells the story. Everything from 911 calls to court testimony, interviews with victims and sometimes with perpetrators give listeners a 360 degree look at the seedy underbelly of human nature and so-called civilized society. Told from an everyman's point of view, Sword and Scale goes beyond the news clips and the sensationalist headlines to hold up a mirror to the audience and ask, "Is it us versus them? Or are we just like 'them' too?" Sword and scale proves that the worst monsters are real.

When Jessica Lynn Reale was 13-years-old, she was timid and untrusting. In early October of 1997, she mustered the courage to approach her 8th grade math teacher, a woman she’d only known for a number of weeks, to tell her a huge secret she had been keeping. Jessica told her teacher that she couldn’t go back home because someone had poured bleach all over her. This situation warranted a CPS report, but the involvement of the FBI or Sacramento County Law Enforcement was unexpected.

excellent take on true crime

The Host is funny and real. Great Interviews and I definitely appreciate that there aren't side bar stories and background noises. Well made program.

⚖💀WARNING💀⚖ BEST PODCAST EVER

This podcast is so good, it has ruined me in listening to most other podcasts out there. I love the narration. The way he goes into a story and people involved in it. The actual audio that is played and then explained either by Mike himself or he will call in experts to help explain the thought process or specifics of a case. I can't express enough how much you will enjoy and appreciate each and every episode. I joined the Plus membership a while back and recently upgraded to Bonus level because I wanted to show my support....and get the limited deal that ends this month. I have other family members addicted to this show and have gotten them into it. which is great because who else am I going to talk to when I do my voice impression of Episode 20 that will understand me and laugh and talk back in similar voice....Plus members.....you know know what I'm talking about....haha

A model for Insanity Defense

It's almost like as this guy is possessed. His toxicology had no indications of drugs, except trace THC. This is quite compelling and the Dr. Phil interview sounds legit-he sounds like a meek scared man. Mental illness at a confounding level.

Better than most.

I've heard and seen this story told many times but Mike tells the story better than most others. I love Sword and Scale and Mike's narrative is the best, by far, than other podcasters. Keep up the good work. You all work very hard to tell us a story that captives the mind.
