    * You can get the sermon note sheet at: https://family-bible-church.org/2026Messages/26Mar22.pdf * In the conclusion of our study of the book of Hebrews, we saw the importance and call for the body of Christ to pray for one another. * As we enter our spring week of prayer and fasting, it is good to remind ourselves that we consider these weeks to be times when we are seeking true revival, or strengthening, in our individuals walks with God, and our collective service to Him. * The term "revival" refers to bringing something "back to life." There is the assumption that there was "life" previously. * Today, we will look at the importance of Contrition in your relation with God. Biblical Contrition is ... A humble and penitent attitude which comes as a result of being "broken" (pridefully) by your moral failure, or comprehension of your finiteness, in contrast to the holiness and eternality of God; knowing that He is your ultimate judge. * We will begin by reading five different Biblical illustrations: 2 Kings 22:8-20 (re: Josiah), Isaiah 6:1-8 (re: Isaiah), Daniel 9:1-19 (re: Daniel), and Luke 18:9-14 (re: the Tax Collector). Lord willing, we will then consider the consistent pattern that we see through these illustrations as we see them lived out in the life and prayer of David. * This message was presented by Bob Corbin on March 22, 2026 at Family Bible Church in Martinez, Georgia.

  • The Power of Prayer
    Mar 24 2019
The message this week transitions between our mini-series on the importance of prayer and our on-going series on the book of Matthew. In our series on prayer, we have considered the privilege, priority, place, pattern and persistence of prayer. This message discusses the power of prayer from a consideration of the interaction that Jesus had after He had descended from the mountain with Peter, James and John. Over the past two weeks, we considered 'The Pattern of Prayer' using the acronym P.R.A.Y. as a teaching tool. (P.R.A.Y. stands for Praise - Repent - Ask - Yield). When Jesus descended, He found His disciples being confronted by a raucous crowd. A man had brought his son to Jesus to be healed. Apparently His disciples had attempted to peform the feat but were unable. After Jesus heals the boy by casting out the demon, His disciples were curious why they could not cast out the demon. In the instruction of Jesus we see the importance of both faith and fasting in our prayer lives. This message was presented on Sunday, March 24, 2019 by Bob Corbin.

  • The Persistence of Prayer
    Mar 17 2019
We are in the fifth week of a mini-series on the importance of prayer in the life of a believer and the church. Prayer is communication with God in worship that is based upon our relationship with Him. Such an incredible privilege is revealed in the priority that we place upon prayer both as a private act of personal worship and as a public act of collective worship. Over the past two weeks, we considered 'The Pattern of Prayer' using the acronym P.R.A.Y. as a teaching tool. (P.R.A.Y. stands for Praise - Repent - Ask - Yield). Last week we examined the Biblical classifications of prayer requests (intercession and supplication) and two conditions that are attached to our asking ... asking in faith and in obedience. The final facet of praying (Yielding) is probably the most important and is fittingly juxtaposed to our next major topic of consideration: The Persistence of Prayer. Today, we will seek to examine each and find a balance. This message was presented on Sunday, March 17, 2019 by Bob Corbin.
