In today's episode of "Anthology of Horror," we delve into the mysterious and chilling history of Ouija boards. We explore their origins in the 19th-century spiritualist movement, their rise to cultural prominence, and the haunting tales associated with their use. We also share some spine-tingling, supposedly real-life stories of encounters with malevolent spirits, including the infamous Zozo phenomenon.

Don't forget to sign up for Anthology of Horror Plus to access our classic episodes that are moving to the archive and to keep the show ad-free. Also, check out our other network shows: "Demented Darkness" and "Darkside of the Nerd," both hosted by the fear meister Scary Jerry, and Foxhound43 on Rumble, who reviews horror movies with his homeboys.

Stay tuned for the launch of my new show, "The Golden Radio," which should be premiering today. Thanks for listening, and as always, stay spooky!

Closing song: "Avoiding Catatonic Surrender" by Tim Barry.

In the latest episode of "Anthology of Horror," we delve into the eerie and often spine-chilling tales from Tom Ogden's "Haunted Highways." This episode takes our listeners on a journey across the haunted roadways of America, where restless spirits and ghostly apparitions have been reported for decades.

Throughout the episode, we discuss the cultural and historical significance of these haunted highways, examining how local folklore and personal experiences blend to create these enduring ghost stories. Listeners are treated to a rich tapestry of spectral legends, each more terrifying than the last.

To conclude this eerie journey, we play "Bastard's Way" by Far From Finished, a fitting end to our exploration of America's haunted roadways. The song's haunting melody and poignant lyrics resonate with the tales of the restless spirits we've encountered, leaving our audience with a lingering sense of the supernatural.

Join us as we traverse the haunted highways of America, where every turn may reveal a ghostly presence, and every mile is steeped in mystery. Whether you believe in ghosts or not, these stories will make you think twice the next time you take a lonely drive at night.

  • Ghostly Journeys: Spooky Stories from Around the Globe

In today’s episode of "Anthology of Horror," we ventured into the spectral heart of folklore with an enthralling exploration of spooky stories from around the globe. As your host, Spring Heeled Jack, I guided you through a chilling array of tales that span continents and cultures, each story weaving its own unique brand of fear and fascination.

From the mist-shrouded lochs of Scotland to the shadow-laden lanes of rural Japan, we journeyed through haunted landscapes that captivate the imagination and stir the soul. We delved into the eerie legend of La Llorona from Latin America, where a mournful spirit wanders near the water's edge, and we shivered at tales of the Hungry Ghosts from Chinese folklore, whose presence is marked by a cold wind and a sense of unending hunger.

These stories not only entertain but also offer a window into the fears and anxieties of different cultures, reflecting universal themes of loss, betrayal, and the unknown through the lens of the local mythology and historical context.

As we wrapped up today’s global ghost tour, the episode closed with the poignant strains of "Paper Wings" by Rise Against. The song’s themes of loss and fleeting time resonated deeply with the transient, ethereal nature of the stories shared, leaving us to ponder the fleeting moments of contact between our world and the supernatural.

Thank you for joining me, Spring Heeled Jack, on this eerie excursion. Remember, the world is full of mysteries waiting to be unearthed and shared. Keep listening, keep wondering, and as always, stay tuned for more tales from the "Anthology of Horror."

Do you read the stories before recording?

Narrator trips over a lot of words, breaks the tension while listening. It is super distracting when you’re trying to create an ambiance. Thought I’d read other reviews with the same issue, so maybe it’s just my issue. Stories are good but I can’t focus on them with the hiccups.

Welcome Back Jack !

It's great Duke explained his short absence. After using 'Anthology' as sonic wallpaper for nearly a year with multiple listens to each episode, a pause of a few months is noticeable. So I figured either a. EVERY podcast takes a yearly sabbatical and I'm a f**king idiot for not knowing that or b. I could email to at least put my most morbid and dire worries to rest. Then I got to think about people I haven't talked to for a few days send me messages asking 'are you dead ?' thinking it's funny and it isn't. So I never emailed or don't think I did.
Anyway Duke is back and even better than before. His sound is vastly improved and, entertaining though they were, his show is now ad-free. So do what you want. I have six brand new 'Anthology Of Horror's to listen to. Since his podcast is the MST3K of online horror stupidity and so much more I suggest you do as well. If Duke knew how much that show was my comedy Rosetta stone it would tell how heartfelt and sincere that compliment is.

anthology or borror

I'm not sure what happened in the last decade but what is standard for scary now, people's feelings. come on what happened to monsters stalking in the night and ghost terrorizing your every waking and sleeping moment.
