fascinating premise, highly original, entertaining
A hard-boiled detective (who is half human, half faerie) gets spun out onto some of the weirdest and most entertaining noir adventures I've ever heard. The deep well of Irish folklore mixes with present day reality, yielding an extraordinary sequence of 'wait, uh... WHAAAAAAT??' moments. Memorable characters, clever storyline, outstanding Irish narrator who actually has somewhat of a grasp of Gaeilge pronunciations- with a few really infuriating lapses. I went from merely curious and ready to be dismissive to doing a full binge of the series. Only minor (and admittedly highly pedantic) complaint is some mispronounced Irish Gaeilge words (which takes nothing at all away from the whole; if you're unfamiliar with the Gaelige language you'd never know or miss the difference). Big recommend.
