WHAT WENT WRONG

By: Sad Boom Media
  • Summary

  • What Went Wrong covers Hollywood’s most notoriously disastrous movie productions, digging into the behind the scenes insanity of everything from massive flops to record breaking blockbusters. Each episode, hosts Lizzie Bassett and Chris Winterbauer dive into a new film to explore the mind blowing (and sometimes numbing) reasons why making a movie is nearly impossible (especially a good one). Produced by David Boman.

Episodes
  • The Sixth Sense
    Apr 29 2024

How did a director trapped in Harvey Weinstein’s movie jail, an action star who nuked his most recent film, and a children’s studio in crisis make one of the most influential horror films of all time? Join Chris and Lizzie as they find out why Toni Collette was less than thrilled to land her part, why Michael Cera didn’t land the lead role and the unexpected power of a PG-13 rating.

  • Below The Line - Armorer (Django Unchained)
    Apr 22 2024

Armorer Larry Zanoff (Django Unchained, Captain America: Winter Soldier, The Matrix Resurrections) is a combat veteran, a bonafide gunsmith, and a weapons trainer for actors and law enforcmenet officers alike. He is also a great storyteller and educator, which makes him uniquely capable of explaining the critically important, yet often overlooked role of an armorer. Join us for a discussion on the responsibilities of an on-set armorer, cross-collaboration with departments you wouldn't expect, and what we need to learn from the rare but devastating on-set firearm tragedies that have captured headlines for decades.

  • The Crow
    Apr 15 2024

‘The Crow’ set the mold for R-rated comic book adaptations, but it’s perhaps most famous for putting its enigmatic star Brandon Lee on the map… and taking him off it forever. Find out how the 1994 film was riddled with problems long before Lee’s untimely death, who else almost played Eric Draven, and the film’s surprising connection to ‘John Wick’. We’re also joined by an expert, armorer Larry Zanoff, to break down the shooting itself.

Thoroughly Researched and Pleasantly Presented

This podcast was an accidental discovery. What a wonderful accident it's proven to be. Lizzie and Chris are knowledgeable, passionate, and bring both whimsy and humanity to stories one would never think could be so engrossing. Many episodes on the... less enjoyable films are almost miraculously made interesting. That's a testament to the hosts' abilities. This one is already great and with such fertile ground in subject matter, the quality is evergreen.
