Publisher's summary

Liam and Pierce live in a country ravaged by a strange sickness. It’s called the CRUD, and it turns its victims into rabid killing machines known as the "plaguers". The authorities wage constant war to keep the plaguers from overrunning the towns, boroughs, and cities.

Liam and Pierce are plumbers sent to the infected zones to keep the taps and sewers flowing. They preserve the dwindling resources of their homeland. Come along in the van and spend a typical day with Liam and Pierce. A day of digging holes, twisting pipes, soldering joints, measuring twice, cutting once, plunging the bog, battling the plaguers in gruesome fashion, and telling crude jokes.

No matter how dangerous or dirty the task, it’s just another day on the job for the plumbers! The Plumbers is a horror/dark comedy novella from the author of Transfer, the Honger series, Night Things, and the highly acclaimed old school horror collection What Price Gory.

Funny, quirky, blue-collar zombie story

Funny, Johnny-lunchpail dialogue and workaday ordeals during a timely zombie pandemic. This was a fun listen. Well-narrated.

Funny Short Zombie Story

This was quite a funny story for being a zombie story. I really liked the two main characters banter back and forth. I am going to have to remember the cat tail joke. But seriously, this was a great story that, and I'm tired of saying this, was a great unique perspective on zombies. For those fans of Terry M. West, you will know what to expect based on some of his other horror/comedy stories. My only real complaint is that I now need more tales of Liam and Peirce now.

As always, Paul Bert did a great job with the narration. He really pulled out all the stops with his character voices. The accents were awesome. I really hope that Paul Bert becomes the voice of West's books going forward. The last few that I have listened to him narrate have been spot on.

A Fun Listen

I know it's horror, but I found this book to be really fun. The two main characters were a delight to follow. I really enjoyed their exchanges immensely. Terry M. West is a very skilled writer. Paul Burt did an excellent job of varying the voices of the characters. His abilities definitely enhanced the listening experience, especially between the two characters already mentioned.

Great zombie tale

I love terry west’s stories. This one is a great zombie tale. Think of the cleanup after the infections mostly contained. A couple of plumbers having to go out and fix issues with the waterlines and deal with the infected. Has a very 28 days later meets Shaun of the dead. Found it very entertaining with plenty of zombie action as well. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher

Funny, but I expected more

Story - 3.0/5
Narration 4.0/5

"The Plumbers" by Terry M. West is about a pair of plumbers during a pandemic and the travails of their workday.

I thought this premise held a lot of possibilities, but it came off sort of flat, to me.

The dialog was funny, and the characters were mostly believable, at least for this kind of story, but I expected more horror.
