Will you be ready when the reckoning comes?

After a grueling trip, Ben, Joel, Allie, her mother, Sandy, and Gunner have reached their destination on the Eastern shore of Maryland.

Ben is reunited with his two younger children who have been surviving with the help of their ailing grandfather, Jack, and his dog, Sam. But reaching Jack’s farm doesn’t guarantee their safety, however, and the struggle to survive continues.

They must remain vigilant in their efforts to protect what is theirs and the people they love. Ben is hoping for a chance to resupply and get some much-needed rest after their cross-country ordeal, but fate has other plans for them.

Jack’s stubbornness in accepting help and refusal to leave his farm means Ben must make a tough decision about doing what’s best for his children. They’re forced to prepare quickly for the journey back to Colorado. But will they all make it home?

Book 6 is a decent story, but uses a lot of unnecessary descriptions & repetition of already described feelings, internal thoughts

Good story but a bit overly wordy

This series has had me drawn in since the start of book 1. I love that the little kids are starting to participate in the story rather than just being spoke about. We’re given more characters to become invested in and more animals. I am immediately starting book 7 because I cannot get enough.

Each book has its own unique storyline the family have to struggle through. All are realistic and sad. Am going to say, thank goodness that he was a prepared more than others.

Must follow through with them all.

Miller is a solid apocalyptic writer focusing on a single fictional universe with 2 big storylines. This one is certainly excellent. And book 6 is no different. I enjoyed it plenty. Tell's presentation is excellent. Audible sound effects are awful, but fail to ruin tge otherwise excellent experience.

Great story, superb writing

This book series is family friendly and good overall. I appreciate how the father changes his perspective and parenting mindset. He wants to protect his family and keep them safe, but keeping them safe means allowing them, mostly his oldest son, to learn and participate in scenarios his paternal instinct says they shouldn't do. His son actually saves his father's life on more than one occasion. That being said, I think this book series was too long. It seemed like the group got into some sort of trouble every time they stopped to siphon gas or refill water containers.
