Pretty good mystery and performance

I love many of Barbara Freethy's books. This isn't one of my favorites. It's a pretty good mystery with varied and interesting characters. There is plenty of intrigue. The performance is pretty good.

Typically like this author but this one fell flat

The narrator was too sugary sweet, the story was slow and very predictable. Hopefully the next in the series gets better.

Boring characters

I listened to one of the author’s books that was included in my membership plan. I was pleasantly surprised, captivated by the complexity of the main characters and their stories. So, I continued to read more books written by her.
However, characters in this book are, honestly, boring and fast forwarded through sections, realizing that it didn’t matter. I didn’t miss anything. That’s so telling.
Still I didn’t give up on the author and continue to enjoy her other books.
