Have Mercy -- I really wasn't prepared for this!

This isn't the story I thought I'd be getting. No traditional HEA (yes, there's romance, but it's more tragic, really) and not the start of a new MC series. Apparently (per other reviewers) it's Andre's back-story since he shows up as an older character in the Ruthless Kings MC series/world by author K.L. Savage (new to me). Though unexpected, it was great --story & characters-- and I'm glad I listened. It was dramatic, suspenseful, and gut wrenching. The narrators, Connor Crais (if he narrates it, I listen to it!) and Lydia Dornet, did a wonderful job bringing this very emotional story to life. They made the characters' grief, loss, and fear palpable. And though there's no happy ending per se, there is hope in the epilogue. I'll take that and figure that everything works out in the end for these characters (incl. karma/justice for the evil ones!), until I get a chance to listen to some of Savage's RKMC series.

Mercy is a story that is a beautifully tragic love story of young, first love between best friends turned lovers. Mercy is a Navy Seal that leaves behind his forever love Michelle in the care of their friend Brandon and his family. Due to his military duty, their spotty communication dies out to non-existent as he never realized that Michelle was pregnant. The sent back mail leads to misunderstandings and so much emotional wreckage when Mercy finds out he has a daughter named Daphne. The story also reveals the underbelly of evil men ruled by their own rage that flares up to harm others in domestic violence. The story is beautifully written through memories relived through letters and journals. Sadness permeates the book with just a smidgen of hope with Mercy determined to help others of domestic violence as he creates a new Motorcycle Club with himself as the President. Hopefully, there will be a follow-up novella or enough of Mercy’s story added to future books to let readers know if he was able to connect positively with his daughter and see him find happiness The audible was excellent.

this story had me crying almost from the cery beginning. you feel every single emotion and want to make it better but you can't.

Mercy, please. Mercy.

K.L. Savage took my heart on a journey through the past, showed it how love can grow, taught it that friends can fall in love, and held my heart close when the hero had to go and leave the heroine behind. Already knowing a bit of Mercy's story from a few of her Ruthless Kings MC series, I was hoping he would have his story told of how his life came to be what it is now. K.L. Savage knows how to cradle your heart and emotions in her hands and not let go, no matter how difficult the storyline may be.
It is a fantastic piece of writing, one that will stick with me as we dig deeper into both the Ruthless Hounds MC and the Ruthless Kings MC series.
Connor and Lidia bring the emotion, the love, the sadness, and the prestine tone for these characters. Nice job everyone!
Ready for more!

was surprised..

i don't usually like listening to stories that are alot of "history as far as characters" go. But in saying that I am glad I listened to this book because it gave me the missing information on Mercy's past relationship with his baby momma!! I REALLY HOPE that there is another book about Mercy expanding on his relationship with his kid and that he finds love again!!!
