In a world that is “woke”, how many Christians are actually awake? This short theologically sound primer is a resource for pastors, ministry leaders, community leaders, and other thinking Christians that explains carefully and clearly what critical race theory and wokeness truly are, what the Bible teaches about race and ethnicity, why wokeness is distinct from Christianity and should be rejected, and how the church can work for unity based in the gospel of grace.

Owen Strachan is a respected Reformed theologian and thought leader who can help Christians:

  • Better understand critical race theory, something very few do;
  • Understand the high stakes - for the church and society at large - of wokeness as a movement;
  • Think through America’s complex past with nuance and sensitivity;
  • Study how God has made humanity one through the imago Dei;
  • Grasp the beauty of the biblical doctrine of ethnicity and “race”; and
  • Be ready to work for unity in perilous times

While I thoroughly enjoyed the information in the book and loved the way Owen Strachan laid it out and delivered it, I will never purchase another book narrated by Axel Bosley.

This book is a great resource and introductory work for those Christians who want to understand critical theory and intersectionality, and Toxicity of these ideologies!

A great resource!

This is a fairly detailed description of "Wokeness" (critical theory in general and critical race theory specifically) and a reasoned explanation of why it is incompatible with Christianity.

One criticism: The reader consistently and seriously butchers the pronunciation of almost all the names (including sometimes the author's name). He butchers pronunciation of the good guys' name (e.g. Voddie Baucham) as well as the bad guys' names (e.g. Ta-nehisi Coates).

In general, this is a good work in the growing library of solid work exposing the insidious racist lie that is critical race theory and how it has insinuated itself into the Church as a counterfeit gospel. Furthermore, the book offers scripturally sound recommendations to counter the false gospel of "wokeness".

Wow, what a book, he did a great job by holding biblical truth to culture, audiology, social justice race, schism LGBTQ +, etc, and unpacked some hard things using history, doctrine, reliable resources and a heart to share the truth that is being pushed aside for the sake of wokenness.

Very theologically accurate
