Amelia Willoughby has been engaged to the Duke of Wyndham for as long as she can remember. Literally. A mere six months old when the contracts were signed, she has spent the rest of her life waiting. And waiting. And waiting . . . for Thomas Cavendish, the oh-so-lofty duke, to finally get around to marrying her. But as she watches him from afar, she has a sneaking suspicion that he never thinks about her at all . . .

It's true. He doesn't. Thomas rather likes having a fiancée—all the better to keep the husband-hunters at bay—and he does intend to marry her . . . eventually. But just when he begins to realize that his bride might be something more than convenient, Thomas's world is rocked by the arrival of his long-lost cousin, who may or may not be the true Duke of Wyndham. And if Thomas is not the duke, then he's not engaged to Amelia. Which is the cruelest joke of all, because this arrogant and illustrious duke has made the mistake of falling in love . . . with his own fiancée!

While telling a story of different people, felt very much like a retelling of the first book in sections. Seems like an attempt at what she masterfully does with the Bridgerton series.

Appreciate the full story

Thought was took much like Bk 1, but glad I stayed with it...was worth it to keep reading. Glad I didn't return it (almost did as it started out so much like the 1sr bk...but them...BEAUTIFUL!

A nice surprise

Not Ms. Quinn’s best work. It’s almost as if she just fulfilled her contract. The second book is just a rehash of the first book. It’s not bad, but you can understand both books just by reading one of the two because they are so similar.

This is just ok

Enjoyed it thoroughly as I have many of her other books. I highly recommend it.

Another entertaining story by Quinn!

While I understand and appreciate many of the reviews being less than stellar, I actually enjoyed hearing the same story from Thomas and Amelia’s perspective.
It was like the missing puzzle pieces and now the picture is complete.
Is it repetitive?
Yes
Did I thoroughly enjoy it anyway?
Also yes
Amelia’s breathy voice may seem irritating at first, but honestly, her intelligence quite makes up for it.

Clearly a hot take
