Better narration than book 1

I’m very glad that the narrator, who nearly put me to sleep in book 1 with his monotonous delivery, put a little more life into this one. Thank goodness! He’s still not all that great, but he’s serviceable.

The story got a little repetitive, with both lead characters going on and on thinking the other one doesn’t love them. This carried on far too long, in my opinion. I wanted to slap them both!

But still, the author has created interesting characters, and we see much more of the lands and peoples in the world she created. There is more gore in this one, but it’s not explicit, nor is it excessive. I’m very sensitive to violence and horror, and it didn’t bother me at all.

I’m a little confused at the apparent conclusion of the “smooth men” sub plot, with another book remaining in the series. Not sure what book 3 will bring, but I already have it downloaded and ready to listen!

My partner and I are absolutely obsessed with these books! Please for the love of the Saint of Steel the world needs a book for every brother and sister of the order. I will shovel money into this authors pockets if I have to! If the author doesn’t have a Patreon, please make one!

Beautiful story with a really good performer

The story slotted in nicely after the first volume of the series. Istfan was amusing before and this installment gave him depth and dimension. Clara and her bear is a perfect counterpoint to his berserker and they are set up well for both action and romance.

Clips of Humor, Romance, and Fantasy!

Recently discovered T Kingfisher and so far really enjoyed every book! While you don't need to read the 1st book I'm this universe, it does help. Found myself laughing more than expected. Narrator does a fantastic job portraying male and female voices.
Well Done!

Engaging world-building

This is the sequel to Paladin’s Grace and effectively resolves up a key mystery from that book, so I recommend it for that reason. In addition to a couple characters from PG, several new and intriguing characters are introduced. The romance has a bit too much awkward UST, even though the individual characters are fine. I recommend every city to support a temple of the White Rat.
