Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are no strangers to peculiar cases. Be it the dilemma of an Indian princess on the run, perfectly healthy people dropping dead as divine punishment, being challenged to a duel, a heartbroken and suicidal young man, a beautiful woman claiming to be Mrs. Holmes, a little boy who loves his dog, an old Scottish ghost that traditionally haunts husbands of pregnant women - there is very little they haven't seen (and solved). But, besides regular adventures, there are quite a few questions - Where was Holmes during the Great Hiatus? How was Sherlock Holmes as a child? Who was "the most repellent man"? What happened after "The Five Orange Pips"? What ingenious crime did Holmes solve by observing "the depth which the parsley had sunk into the butter upon a hot day"?

A Continuum of Sherlock Holmes Stories brings together a baker's dozen of such stories. These are all traditional-style pastiches published in various anthologies from 2015 - 2020, including The MX Book of New Sherlock Holmes Stories. Jayantika Ganguly, better known as Jay, is an international Sherlockian from India who believes there can never be enough Sherlockian stories.

As with any collection of stories, the quality varies. The early stories are very good, while the last few feel much more contrived, repetitive and less interesting. I'd say the stories range between 2 to 5 stars. The ones that were good were very good and made this an overall enjoyable listen for me.

Solid collection with a few misses

Fun stories that were well crafted, and don’t grossly violate the canon. I would definitely listen to more SH stories by the same author - and narrator.

(So many pastiches do, which drives me nuts. If people are going to borrow and build on Doyle’s work, they should respect it.)

Quite Well Done!

I enjoyed A Continuum of Sherlock Holmes Stories by Jay Ganguly. Good short stories so I can stop and start the audiobook. The narration by Kevin E Green is very good.

Good collection of Sherlock Holmes short stories

The book really started out pretty strong and I was really impressed, I'm not super picky but I'm definitely someone that's read the Sherlock Holmes series many many times. It seemed like the last stories were maybe not as good. They definitely had a different style to them. They weren't the worst but didn't feel right. They kind of made holmes seem omniscent, which in a way is true to the story, but Sir Arthur Conan Doyle never really ruined the mystery immediately, so I just didn't feel right, I don't have a better way to explain it than that. not unpleasant I don't know that I would spend the credit again given the chance though.

Jay Ganguly has created a wonderfully accurate set of Sherlock Holmes pastiches. It is evident she has done her research. The stories are believable. Many include an homage to a prior entry in the Canon. I truly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to Holmes fans everywhere.
