Just typical. No love life to speak of for months, then all at once, every horny creature in the Otherworld wants to get in your pants....

Eugenie Markham is a powerful shaman who does a brisk trade banishing spirits and fey who cross into the mortal world. Mercenary, yes, but a girl's got to eat. Her most recent case, however, is enough to ruin her appetite. Hired to find a teenager who has been taken to the Otherworld, Eugenie comes face to face with a startling prophecy - one that uncovers dark secrets about her past and claims that Eugenie's first-born will threaten the future of the world as she knows it.

Now Eugenie is a hot target for every ambitious demon and Otherworldy ne'er-do-well, and the ones who don't want to knock her up want her dead. Eugenie handles a Glock as smoothly as she wields a wand, but she needs some formidable allies for a job like this. She finds them in Dorian, a seductive fairy king with a taste for bondage, and Kiyo, a gorgeous shape-shifter who redefines animal attraction. but with enemies growing bolder and time running out, Eugenie realizes that the greatest danger is yet to come, and it lies in the dark powers that are stirring to life within her....

I was surprised I hadn’t seen this sooner considering I’m a long longtime fan of Vampire Academy and the Ruby Circle.

This book is funny and surprisingly sexy. Also the narrator has a classically matured female voice that I found fitting for the main character.

I’m excited to listen to all of this series. Although I’m a bit concerned for the 4th book. It doesn’t have great reviews saying the story was left unfinished and rushed. I find endings to be most important to a good book. A lot of writers have lost this ability to solidify a good ending. I will still listen to the series though.

Loved it

I am a huge fantasy, supernatural, wiccan related fan. This series is one of the best I've read first and listened to on audiobook. Rachel keeps you wanting to keep moving forward to see what happens next. It would be nice if she came out with a runoff the series or continue forward. Great Read and Listen.

One of my favorite series from Rachel.

I’ve been a big fan of Richelle Mead’s writing for years. I love the Georgina Kincaid series and many other works. I finally took the plunge into this series and I’m just not as thrilled as usual. The story in book one was very predictable, the potential romance options just leave me shrugging, and while I know I will finish the rest of the series because of my completionist drive; I’m not hugely excited at this stage and I don’t know how to really feel.

Oddly Mid-tier

Love the story line… hate the voice narrator. Makes it hard to keep focus when it just doesn’t not match at all.

I love Richelle Mead and will always be grateful for the Vampire Academy series and its spin off series, they are apart of my yearly reads. I listened to a couple of the Succubus books, worth a once through, and found this catchy titled series: the Storm Born. I eagerly started listening to it. Unfortunately the whole thing fell flat for me. I would compare it to a B film bordering on cheap porn. Not her best work by a long shot. But Vampire Academy was her opus and anything that comes after it will never be as good. I also felt a thesaurus would have been a beneficial tool, to avoid repeating the same words over and over again in a single paragraph and occasional sentence. All that being said, I'm still a huge fan and am going to continue my support of this fantasy author!

Meh.
