another Pride prequel

Review of audiobook originally borrowed through my library’s Hoopla app, then purchased during Audible’s site wide sale. I pursued this specifically for the first story from Laurenston.

We get the story of how Niles Van Holtz and Dr Irene Conridge got together. She’s actually a much younger, flawed human being. Jaqueline Jean-Louis is Irene’s best friend and is still dating Paul Parker, then mates him. These characters overlap 3 of her series: Pride, Magnus Pack & Badgers.

Chapter 14 Wicked Ways by Cynthia Eden
I’m ending up writing this review at least 2 weeks after reading and I can’t remember this story at all. I noted characters Miranda Shaw, Paul Roberts, Neighbor Cain Lawson, and it takes place in Cherryville, FL.

Toren was uninspired as a narrator. Whoever chose him didn’t care about promoting this book or the author’s interests.

I'm glad I read this! now I will have to reread everything from shelly. its great to get Vans back story. I read howl for it right before this and that had Eggies story,also gteat. I'm also happy to have found a new author,Cynthia!

Narrator is terrible.

Kinda wish I’d read this before the Pride series. But the monotone narration is mind numbing. I’m not sure I’m gonna finish it. I so wish they’d had someone perform it.

I LOVE Shelly L's Pride series and the narration is pretty great so to hear this after that one was a really let down. could not get pulled into story (not 2nd one) work this lackluster monitone narration. sticking worth the Pride and Magnus series.

Red flags abound

I had to remind myself that both books were written in the 1980s. I’m familiar w Shelly L’s books… it had some borderline consent issues w the FMC and her partner. The second book was tough to swallow w the heaviness of sexism in every sentence. I had to stop listening. Good narrator.
