Kate Blackwell is the symbol of success — a beautiful woman who parlayed her inheritance into an international conglomerate. Winner of a unique position among the wealthy and world-renowned, she is also a survivor as indomitable as her father, who returned from the edge of death to wrench a fortune in diamonds from the hard South African soil. As she celebrates her 90th birthday, Kate surveys the family she has manipulated, dominated, and loved over the decades and asks herself: Is she the master of the game?

Magnificent work. Could not wait to have a free minute to listen to it every day. The story is captivating and keeps you interested at all times.

The constant suspense.

Would you listen to Master of the Game again? Why?

Not sure.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Still too new, don’t have a favorite.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Theere are these odd pauses with the narrator of the book. I’ve never experienced with any book on audible. It’s as though the narrator is pausing while they turn the page. Most annoying!!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I could.

Odd pauses

Read the physical book, saw the TV mini-series and loved them both.

The narration of the audiobook, however, well, where do i start...? Too many pauses where there shouldn't be pauses. Run-on sentences when there are breaks in chapters, titles, etc.

When reading a physical book, you hear the voices in your head and they are monotone, to be expected. But the narrator in this case had a blend of accents for the same person. This, mixed with the run-on sentences made it very difficult to follow.

I stuck it through because i knew the story and wanted to listen to it, but it was painful.

Loved the story, narration is something else...

I first listened to Memories or Midnight and The Other Side of Midnight and I really enjoyed both. So I decided to try Master of the Game. Story was good, but the narration....very annoying - long pauses at times where there was no need, like right in the middle of a scene or even sentence. Weird.

The story does not fail to meet the expectations of a Sidney Sheldon fan. The narrator is good, with the exception of the somewhat irritating random pauses in the narrative, as if the recording is placed on "mute" temporarily- perhaps to cover a cough, or a page turning.

Love Sidney Sheldon!
