Berserker

I have a special power, the ability to calm a berserker, but I’ve been warned never to use it. My mother said, “If you see a berserker in a rage…not your monkeys, not your circus. Get the hell away. They’re too dangerous, and you’ll lose your freedom.”

But the thing is…we’re flying 30,000 feet in the air in a speeding aluminum cage, and there’s a berserker raging out in the aisle beside me. Security won’t be able to hold him. They won’t be strong enough. They have no idea what they’re dealing with. And if he gets a taste of blood, he’s going to rampage through the entire plane, leaving a path of death and destruction, including me.

I’ve never used my power before. I’m afraid it won’t work and he’ll turn on me, but I know all too well what these beasts are capable of. There’s nowhere to go, and he’s just getting started. I have one option: calm him and hope I can escape when the plane lands.

This is a stand-alone. No cliffhanger. Guaranteed happily ever after.

Really could not focus on much else while listenin

I loved this fresh story of Norse Mythology. Of course I was listening while I was working, so at times I REALLY could NOT do both. So I paused the book and tried to do some work again. Then after a little bit I could listen while working. I feel like the narrators were both well chosen for this book and enjoyed listening. Also looking forward to seeing what else this author has available!

5 stars for Troy - he can do no wrong *swoon*
2 stars for Lauren - she over-acted the ENTIRE. STORY. It was exhausting listening to it.

The idea of the story piqued my interest, but it was a serious letdown. Perhaps if it would've been a full length book, it could've been something really good. Instead I'm left with too many questions and not enough interest to want to read anything else by this author.

Excellent urban fairy tale. Romance? Not so much

“The merging of the monster and the man”
This didn’t work for me as a romance but did work as a kind of modern day Brothers Grimm fairy tale combined with Norse mythology fueled by sex and rage. I’m not sure an ancient being knowing about modern day sex toys made sense. I also didn’t feel the romance, perhaps because there wasn’t ever any getting to know the MCs beyond mentioning Chloe wanted to study art. However, this gets points for originality.and, Troy Duran delivers a growly, deliciously, beastly berserker.

Here for Troy Duran but stayed for the story. It was short and sweet and perfect length. I dont think I cared enough about Chloe to want to read anything longer but the story of the Berserker & mythology was nice. If you love Troy Duran (which you should), I’d recommend a listen
