Two ordinary, everyday people with no criminal history gun down two organized crime rivals in the middle of downtown rush hour with countless witnesses. Fort Worth Police Detective Jake “Cowboy” Hunter and his team face a city on the brink of chaos with a puzzling string of crimes where the suspects’ motives have no logical explanation. They uncover the grim reality that someone is manipulating innocent people into committing murder. Then erasing all trace of their existence.

As the shootings continue, Hunter and team are pulled into a world of cybercrime with black hats, viruses and worms, explosive social media, and a vengeful mafia. It’s a fight against an invisible perpetrator who knows their next moves before they do, and a race against time to prevent an all-out mafia war.

While facing the frustrating twists in this case, Hunter joins his friend and colleague, Texas Ranger Colt Barkley, in an unsanctioned investigation in search of a U.S. Congressman’s missing daughter. What starts out as a favor turns into a series of unauthorized events that eventually puts both Hunter’s and Barkley’s badges — and lives — at risk.

While these two parallel investigations spin out of control, Hunter receives devastating personal news that threatens not only his career in law enforcement, but could alter the course of his life and relationships with everyone around him.

This is a great series. The author has a pace that keeps you interested. The characters are well developed. I like that for the most part the detectives don’t run into situations on their own like some detective series.
The narrator needs to work on his cadence. He sounds robotic.
