Something is wrong with Valerie Darkmore.

She may have made it through her initiation into the Marionettes, but she’s quickly learning that was only the beginning. Everything she used to know has changed, including maybe herself.

Adjusting to her new reality proves to be the least of her worries, when bodies appear all over the city, and the death toll continues to rise. She can’t count on her partnership with a dangerous vampire prince to be enough to save her. Because, while they’re investigating the attacks, the killer might just be looking for her, too.

Wicked Souls is the second installment in the dark fantasy romance series, The Marionettes.

This sequel is everything I’ve ever wanted to see in a series. I haven’t felt this desperate for the next since I read The Hunger Games.

What a dream

I liked this installment way more than the first. Tons of tension, plot twists and don't even get me started on that ending.

I can't say much without spoiling this book. So I'll just say that it's worth the read if the first book peaked some interest and know that it exceeds the first one.

Great story with dynamic characters and continuing depth. I did not see the ending coming and cannot wait for the next book in the series! Highly recommend this series and the narrator is great!

Wicked Souls takes everything we love about The Marionettes and turns it up to eleven. Valerie Darkmore is back, but she's not the same girl we met in book one. She's hardened, battling inner demons, and facing external threats that make initiation look like a walk in the park.

Wismer's writing is as sharp as ever, weaving a dark tapestry of fantasy and romance that will leave you breathless. The scenes between Valerie and her mother, as well as the revelations about Quinn, are absolutely gut-wrenching. I found myself tearing up multiple times, a testament to Wismer's ability to create characters and relationships that feel achingly real.

The plot is a rollercoaster of twists and turns, with bodies piling up and danger lurking around every corner. The stakes are higher than ever before, and the tension is palpable. Wismer expertly balances the darkness with moments of humor and heartwarming connection, making this a truly unforgettable reading experience.

If you loved The Marionettes, you absolutely need to dive into Wicked Souls. It's a worthy sequel that will leave you craving more.

I enjoyed this and still have it 5 stars because I couldn’t put it down but I found that there was some parts that didn’t make any sense. For example when the FMC is going out to bar/clubs and partying on rooftops even though she is dying? I felt like that didn’t make any sense and went against what would make sense for her as a character. Other than that I liked it.

Not as good as book 1
