Victor Morgan’s entire life has been in the limelight. Groomed by his fierce mother as a piano prodigy, intent on using him to build a legacy for the Morgan name.

But legacies require the utmost in care. Any little disaster can cause a mountain of problems.

After a 17th birthday party ends in catastrophe, a fight with his parents sends Victor out into the world for the first time on his own. With his Academy team and Sang by his side, it’s everything he’s wanted for years. It’s his time to get out from under his parents’ oppressive control and finally be himself.

But Victor is a local celebrity in the Charleston community. His name and face have been everywhere. His every move is noticed. When his actions lead to the risk of a very public exposure of himself and his team, including thwarting Sang’s chances at remaining a Ghost Bird, Victor realizes the life his mother built may jeopardize everything. The Morgan name may just be his downfall.

There may be no escape. The only way to save Sang and his team might be to give up what he really wants more than anything: to finally be the real Victor Morgan.

Okay, first of all, I was really excited for Unsung Requiem, I even bought the whole ebook and audio version cuz I really love the whole story. But I invested in the audiobook more because Natalie Eaton was that good for me in the past 12 books. She really captured each character's voices!!

Now I'm kind of regretting using my credit for the audiobook version. Maybe I should've stick with the ebook. Why?

First, I don't know if it's really the same narrator but the voices were off. The narrator sounded like a broadcaster and was inconsistent with the voices of each character. I had to stick it in my mind that maybe they were all grown up a bit and got matured. Sang's voice was there but you'll really have to listen. Even Victor's voice is different. Near the end though, some voices were back.

Second, I don't know why but this books seems really different from the previous books. It didn't feel like it's part of the whole Ghostbird series. Nathan and Dr. Green's books was not like this at all. Maybe I just got used to Sang being the center of attention everytime. But I like that CL Stone is introducing Victor's life to her readers. This book just felt a little off to me.

Third, I don't know if you guys had the same issue but the audiobook I got has four chapters that was not in order (chapter 10-13). I had to check the ebook version.

I hope the next installment gets better. And the narrator too.

It was good and bad...

The storyline is great as usual. I love this series.

They made a mistake when editing the audio however and Chapter 13 belongs earlier in the story during Victor’s birthday party. :)

Chapter 13 is in the wrong place

I really enjoyed the story other than the misplaced chapter. I found the narrator to be really annoying at the beginning but once she developed each characters voice she became a joy to listen to. The author is a bit repetitive and redundant at times. Since Sang always keeps her cell in her bra it doesn’t needs to be said each time she uses her phone. Readers aren’t stupid. This is the first of her books that I am listening to. I read all the prior books in this series as well as the books in the other Academy series. The books are beginning to lean into older YA and NA. I read similar books at age 10 but I wouldn’t recommend for all. Parents should listen and judge for themselves if their own child is mature enough.

Chapt 13 in wrong place
