Now I Got It explores the journey of a young woman figuring life out from a teenager to young adult.

There is a saying that it takes a village to raise a child, but what happens when the child grows up? A Chicago girl shares her true story of growing up with her great-aunt and uncle. In this short memoir, Nicole writes about her dad, who tries his best to catch up after not being there as a child, and failed relationships with men.

Oh, and there's the car window glass shattering from a drive-by, and more.

This book was written in an effort to explain why Nicole K Jackson started a nonprofit for young adults to continue raising children from the village. She now lives in California, has a family of her own, and is on a journey to raise awareness of the struggles of young adulthood.

I came across this story unexpectedly and was very impressed! The level of honesty and candor the author shares about her childhood and relationships with her parents are at times heartbreaking. However she manages to life's lessons and use the to propel her forward. I think this is a great read for everyone needing some motivation to make their life what they want it to be. Especially young people and anyone else that doesn't understand there past does not dictate your future!
