  • BBC's The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe... and Turkish Delight
    Mar 14 2024

For this year's Easter episode, we have our friend Hannah as a guest to discuss The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, a British children's television drama first broadcast by the BBC in 1988.

Based on the 1950 novel by C.S. Lewis, Lucy, Edmund, Peter, and Susan Pevensie travel to a magical land through a forgotten wardrobe. Narnia is the home of the great lion Aslan. During his long absence, his arch-enemy, the evil White Witch places Narnia in an eternal winter. However, with the return of Aslan and the arrival of the four Pevensie children, the Narnians are given a hope to end the tyranny of the Witch.

Hannah and Megan discuss their memories of the movie and the book series, and sample some Turkish Delight, a sweet featured prominently in the story!

  • Bosom Buddies (1980)
    Mar 7 2024

We are starting our look into the 1980s! This week, Megan reviews Bosom Buddies. She was particularly surprised to learn that the show was not a TV rip-off of the Oscar-award winning film, Tootsie.

Bosom Buddies was an American television sitcom starring Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari. It aired on Thursday nights for two seasons on ABC from 1980-1982 and in reruns on NBC in 1984 after Tom Hanks appeared in Splash. The show features the misadventures of two single men, struggling with low-level careers in advertising. After their apartment is demolished, they disguise themselves as women in order to live in the place they can afford... a complex where no men are allowed!

The show became known for its quirky humor and its frequent use of improvisation. Though the show started out with good ratings, it failed to hold the public's interest and was canceled after two seasons.

Was it as horrible as we remember? Or did it hold up fairly well? Listen to find out!
