This is one that you've wanted from the beginning! Sound Mixing for me is the one of the best parts of Post Production. It can make a MASSIVE difference in your soundtrack and how you can let the film be perceived by your audience. It requires you to ask yourself "What kind of feeling am I wanting? What style of film am I making? Does the sound represent this?" This can be managed with your mix.

I go through what I do for my films, what levels you should be achieving for your dialogue, music, SFX and more. I hear so many films either be too quiet or so loud you throw your phone across the room. Don't be that person. Don't make a bad impression in the first few seconds of your film with bad sound.

Hello again... We're back after an unintentional break these past  2 weeks! 5 weddings in 8 days across the country here in the UK. 

It's been beautifully chaotic.

This weeks episode is nice and easy for you. I go over 5 things for you to improve the sound and life of your lav mics. Placement, stickies/accessories, longevity...

The placement of a lav mic can really make a difference in how it sounds. Too close and you can overload, too far away and it sounds thin and airy - I go over the finger and thumb rule so you can get the best placement every time. If you have seen it already, I dig through my accessories box that I have at my hip at every wedding. There's been many occasions where I've needed to hide the mic, so I go through what I use and why. There's also some simple tips on how to keep you lavs in top condition so you can get the most out of them.

We are always big advocates for taking time in our consultations calls and pre-wedding calls to discuss the wedding in detail towards the sound aspect of the day. Our couples are sometimes a bit blanked face when faced with questions like "How is your day going sound?" or "Is there any important sound elements that you wish you could hear back?" BUT sometimes they think for a minute and suddenly another perspective of their day suddenly appears in their head. 

You can ask what music they like to listen to at home or on their own or when together. While you don't exactly need to use this type of music in their film, it can give you an insight into the kind of relationship they have or type of people they are when not surrounded by 10/100's of people. And this is where your questions start coming into play!
