Maxwell Thornton isn’t really a people person, but that never mattered to him because he’d lived for his career. After losing a patient during an operation, he’s shaken and afraid to pick up the scalpel again. He resigns his position in the city and takes a job as sole GP in the isolated town of Rainy Dale, Texas, population 1,001.

Rainy Dale is populated with eccentrics who test his patience and seem to think he’s not only there to treat their illnesses, but that he’s also there to hold their hand and be their therapist. When one of his most annoying patients ends up dead and floating in Maxwell’s pool, he has some explaining to do to the local sheriff.

Sheriff Royce Callum is intelligent, determined, and more attracted to the new doctor than he would like. He can’t imagine Maxwell is a murderer, but he also can’t exactly ignore a corpse in the sexy doctor’s pool.

Overall I enjoyed this audiobook

Overall I enjoyed this book. The narrator does a great job with the different voices for each character. The mystery is intruiging and kept me listening. I liked both the main characters a lot and the romance is building quite nicely between the Max and Royce. I like that Royce can see past Max's prickly exterior. I hope the rest of the series is released in audio.

not bad

not to bad , but never really caught much of my attention for long periods. I can't really say why it didn't connect overly well .the narration was done well. but was missing something for me.

i always enjoy Matt Haynes and enjoy a good murder mystery and this was a great murder mystery

Omg this audio book was absolutely positively amazing. I would highly recommend this audio book.

Good story. Good narration.

The dynamic between Royce and Maxwell is the main draw of this story. The mystery is interesting, but the medical and police procedures don't feel very realistic. The small town drama is extremely realistic though. Been there. Done that.

This is an entertaining listen if you are looking for a cozy mystery with a bit of romance.
