Jessica is delighted when her nephew Grady invites her to spend a few days with his family in an oceanside New York bungalow. She packs her bags and heads down to the city, ready to spend some quality time with Grady, his wife, Donna, and their young son, Frank.

But the morning after Jessica’s arrival, Donna finds her boss dead on a tennis court, and Jessica’s dreams of a relaxing visit are quashed. Everyone in the small beachside community is a suspect, and the local authorities—headed by an old colleague of Cabot Cove sheriff Mort Metzger—have asked that no one leave town. Will Jessica be able find a killer and salvage the rest of her trip?

I just finished Killer on the Court. I wasn’t sure what to expect because, to be honest, the last book wasn’t my favorite. I am so happy to say that I LOVED this book. Frank Fletcher is beautifully written, as are the scenes between him and Jessica. They were all my favorite parts. The level of detail that was added helped to bring you right into the scenes. A simple thing like mentioning that a little girl’s bathing suit has fish on it made me think of all the adorable little girls’ suits I’ve seen all the way back to my own. I do believe that this might be my favorite out of ALL the books. Super job Terri! I can’t wait to read your next book.

My new favorite <3

I have read at least 10 of the Murder She Write books in the series. And this one was cozy and everything I always like the series to be. However, I prefer the other writers. They’ve changed who is writing the books for the series more than once and the writer of this book is just not my favorite. The story is fine, but she seems to have a dislike of contractions. It makes an audiobook very formal and stilted when you’re listening to it if there are no contractions. Sentences that should be between two friends like, “I can’t believe it!” sounds so awkward when the reader is saying, “I can not believe it.” Maybe without the contractions it’s not stilted to read, but when it’s put into an audiobook, it sounds like robots talking.

Characters felt ‘true’ to the show ; the overall story itself was engaging. The narrator captures Jessica well also. This was among my favorites of the series so far.

Love this one

I don’t usually write reviews. This is my favorite series and this addition did not disappoint. My only complaint is that the characters’ conversations did not seem natural. “I am …” in lieu of I’m …” seemed very stoic and unnatural — I could not tell if this grammatical accuracy in the spoken form from characters was due to being too grammatical in writing style or was caused by the narrator’s lack of speed in speaking or lack of inflection. Terrie Moran does a great job of characterization of Jessica and her family. The killer was totally unexpected. It just sounded very stoic when characters would speak “ I am …. I shall …” .

Cozy and unexpected culprit

Good story, great reader/ performer. If you're familiar with the series, it's like being on vacation with family. Not recommended for anyone who wants more dark intrigue in a mystery. This is definitely a "cozy" series. Fun and enjoyable escape from a stressful world.

Merlington is best performer since Cynthia D.
