Hello, I'm Pamela Nightingale, daughter of the late international best-selling author and radio personality, Earl Nightingale. I'd like to share with you the true-life story of my father and the personal secrets of his life. This includes behind-the-scenes details of how he discovered the Strangest Secret.

Family stories include how my dad was abandoned by his father and went barefoot as a poor boy living in a tent city through the Great Depression. He fell in love at first sight, lied about his age to join the Marines, and miraculously was one of only a few to survive the sinking of the USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor. Some say he lived the life of ten men. He played the radio personality of Sky King on WGN, had a talk show, started businesses, and felt the sting of scandal, heartache, and health problems. He even received a personal invitation from the Queen of England to visit her at Buckingham Palace.

This book includes the emotional tale of poverty, war, love, and scandal. There are laugh-out-loud pranks he perpetrated on co-workers while working in Chicago. Suspense and uncertainty follow when his daughter, me, almost gets kidnapped and the notorious mafia boss, Sam Giancana, calls to reassure my dad, “It won’t happen again.”

Earl traveled the globe, sometimes sailing his own yacht, speaking and teaching others how to live an abundant life. He partied with celebrities, smoking illegal Cuban cigars with the mayor and the former King of England. He dealt with PTSD, fought acromegaly, and created the largest syndicated radio program in the world—heard on every continent. But most important, Earl taught others “The Strangest Secret” because he said: “It would be cruel to tell people how much money I make, but it would be selfish not to show them how I did it.”

Many fans have asked for a book like this. There has been no written biography of Earl Nightingale—only his professional life has been briefly chronicled. Although my dad died in 1989, his work is still popular with those interested in subjects of human character development, motivation, excellence, and a meaningful existence.

In this time of uncertainty and difficulty for many, the time is right to release the inspirational example of how Earl Nightingale lived his life and overcame adversity and limitations to help others do the same. Join me and my cousins on the adventure of a lifetime as we tell The Story of Earl Nightingale and His Strangest Secret.

Have owned and listened to Earl’s many inspiring and business motivational material, in numerous formats for over two decades; the man himself largely remained an enigma. Even owning and reading Diana Nightingale’s (his last wife) recent book left huge gaps in Earl’s story. Fascinated to come across this title - had never HEARD of it! The anecdotes here are sometimes surprising, decidedly of a “warts and all” nature - but Earl’s stellar integrity and impressive success/influence remain unsullied. Very enjoyable.

An eye-opener, to say the least!

This is a MUST read

This book is nothing short of extraordinary—a radiant tribute to a man whose voice awakened a generation and whose secret still echoes through eternity.
Pamela Nightingale has lovingly crafted more than a biography—this is a living transmission of purpose, resilience, and spiritual brilliance. Through tender stories, profound reflections, and historical depth, she draws back the curtain on Earl Nightingale’s remarkable life, illuminating not only his legendary voice but the vibrational power behind it.
What sets this book apart is its heart.
It doesn’t just inform—it remembers.
It allows the reader to experience the journey of a man who, through hardship and self-inquiry, discovered the liberating truth that would become his life’s message:
We become what we think about.”
From surviving Pearl Harbor to becoming one of the most influential voices in personal development history, Earl’s story is one of divine timing and destiny fulfilled. And Pamela tells it with the grace of someone who deeply knew the man behind the message.
Reading this book isn’t simply reading a life—it’s stepping into a legacy.
It rekindles the sacred fire of personal responsibility and possibility. It is a call to think higher, dream wider, and remember who we truly are.A must-read for all who walk the path of transformation, spiritual remembrance, and empowered creation. This is not just the story of Earl Nightingale This is the story of anyone bold enough to claim their own Greatest Secret. All Good Is.And this book is a shining confirmation of that.

I have been an Earl Nightingale fan for years. When I was young, I listened to hundreds of hours of Earl Nightingale. I found this biography of his life to be very interesting. Even though I listened to Earl Nightingale for many many hours, I never knew anything about his life. For anyone who is a fan of Earl Nightingale, this will be a very interesting book.

Greatly enjoyed

Thanks to Pamela Nightingale for giving us a picture of a great teacher who was flawed like all of us humans. He didn't live a perfect life. He grew up poor. His father abandoned the family. He divorced his first wife. His second wife divorced him. He had a temper. He suffered PTSD. Great background information. I first purchased his cassette tape (yes, cassette tape) programs in 1990. Listened to them for years Recently purchased the audio book on smart phone version. I really appreciate learning more about the human being and his real life journey. I also really liked the 20 minute 1959 version of the Strangest Secret. Upon thinking about it, Earl Nightingale was right, "I become what I think about."

Very good book. He was flawed like all of us.
