  • Season 2 Community-based Wetlands Management In The Lower Songkhram River Basin In Thailand
    Dec 9 2022
The Songkhram River in northeast Thailand is a tributary of the Mekong River, an important river in Asia. It provides essential habitat for more than 180 species of fish, with at least 58 species migrating between the basin and the Mekong River.  The community members around the basin primarily work in fishing and floodplain agriculture, including rice cultivation and livestock, representing a sustainable economy within the communities. Today our guest is Thanapon Piman, a Senior Research Fellow with SEI Asia. He has more than 15 years of academic and professional experience in hydrology, water resources planning and modeling, sustainable irrigation and hydropower development, and climate change adaptation. In this episode, we discussed the Stockholm Environment Institute Initiative Water Beyond Boundaries and the community-based ecosystems in Thailand's lower Songkhram River basin.
