GREGG

SHADY GREG!, SHADY GREG!, SHADY GREG!

Wolfe locke did so good with this book it's crazy, I loved this book so much its nothing like what you read on a regular basis.

The narrator did really good with this book and I really liked him, all the voices were different and some of his voices I thought were from cartoons. there was the one instance where he sounded like Morty from Rick and Morty. I really liked this narrator I want too hear more of his work.

characters in this book were actually really good, I think that this was one of the books Strongsuits. All the characters were different with there own personality and wolfe locke did a really good job writing the characters.
The Mc was likeable also, he wasn’t your classic merchant at all and I liked that. He wasn’t a bad person at all and I related with him alot. I also liked the side characters, There really wasn't one side character I didn't like. they were all okay, the only person I didn't really like was the antagonist.

When I comes too fighting, it's lacking. But this book isn't a fighting book, it's a merchant one, a good one at that. So if you haven't read the blurb yet. don't get this book if you're expecting a action packed book.
you should get it if you're trying too get a nice slice of life series where most of the time you can sit back and listen.

The plot was good, but I felt like it lacked depth. I actually really liked the plot and the ending and how it all played out, but the plot lacked depth in my opinion. I can say that the book is performed well. I also like how the book is written, I usually don't like stories where the Mc is writing it, but this one was good and I made an exception exactly for this book.
I did say that books like this aren't made on a daily basis and they usually aren't, that's why I love the idea and premise of this book. it's super unique and I feel like wolfe locke tried something new and he slayed.
World building and world detail is good, I liked how the world is explained and the world he ends up in isn't that bad, the only thing I really didn't like is the system restrictions, I came around to it at the end but before that I felt it was a hassle that didn't even have to be there.
I actually like the character development in this book, I think that Greg developed alot and I liked that alot, with everything he went through if he didn't change I'd be surprised. So that's just another point for wolfe locke.

I also think that this book doesn't have too go any further, This the perfect example of a 1 book series, I also want too say; Wolfe Locke where's the old art cover? bring it back.
there are somethings I don't like that need to be addressed. I get this isn't a fighting book but why can't natives go into dungeons? I feel like if they could this book would be so much better and I don't understand why that can't go into dungeons. another thing I don't understand is: (Spoilers) at the end of the book it's stated that the antagonist hired the dwarf too steal the sword at the start of the book, but at the start of the book the antagonist gets mad at greg and they have an altercation. So there's only two ways I can see this, either its a plot hole or its a clue on how deceiving the antagonist was in the entire series. Other than. that i really liked this book and I'm contempt with just one book.

Conclusion
Wolfe locke did really good with this book, and Christopher also did really good, I really liked shady Greg and I want too see more of him in the future. If you like awesome merchan books with cool mcs this books if for you, if you don't well your loss...

MC with no spine

I wouldn't be able to live with myself after making the decision that this MC did after the hoard event.

I honestly couldn't listen much past that because it made absolutely zero sense. The character's core tenants were ignored in order to have him make a decision to further the plot.

The atrocities described during that event are on par with some of the worst things to occur in my lifetime, and it was downplayed significantly.

not the worst but far far from the best

I will keep this short. the MC is naive and extremely dumb. the system isn't explained well and seems just plain bad. characters feel like a bunch of under developed teenagers at times. Will not continue.

Boring, more tragedy than adventure

The bulk of the book has the style of a tragedy, as the MC engages in a downward spiral because of his own character flaws. The first person narrator continually hints at the coming downfall and it's hard to root for a protagonist that you know is going to fail. While the book ends on a more positive note than a true tragedy, the author is never able to pull off a thrilling triumph over adversity that other books manage to do.

Its not a minimal game lit

Hi, I'm Ryan and i would like to say that this book is good. Not great nor bad. I will say it has enough interesting characters that keep you listening.
As for the story. It is ok. It has a few unique plot points, but overall most of the story can be thought out beforehand.
I will also point out the narrator. Who would tell you how he will skip telling about mondaine details related to points of the plot far too often.
To the author I say, please reduce or stop this. If you're going to have the main character narrate their own story like this. Don't be surprised when the reader/listener feels less involved if not swindled from an opportunity.
The best way I can think to describe this is, a person messing up a interstesting joke half way through, and failing to retell it.
As for the game-lit aspects. I feel it is based a on a very lose set of rules. werein they are only applied to non combat situations. To me, this makes the story feel shallow. Example would be playing a game based on telling a story. Like a Tell Tale product. ... i lost interest in making any my points. Overall, i would apend 5$ on paperback. Not 13$ for a Audible.

More sighing than a romance novel.

As long as you don’t mind an endless parade of sighs and shrugs, this is an entertaining tale that is also kid friendly. Good narration but the actual writing leaves something to be desired.

Very interesting

Definitely loved having a MC that was something other than the dungeon or the adventurer. I'm looking forward to seeing how the next book goes.

You need a heading

Since when audible has a written review requirement? The book is good, the narrator is good.

don't buy

there is a collection of all the books. don't buy this single one for the credit. the book is pretty decent though and overall enjoyable. I wish I would have spent my credit on the set instead of just the one book though.

Needs a better editor.

The story is interesting enough but the way it's written is bad. The editor needed to kick the author's butt. Perfect narration on the other hand does help prevent this from being a trainwreck.

I don't feel the need to buy the next book in the series. The characters get a happy ending after all. The hook for the next book IMHO doesn't land. I would probably read the next book if it were to magically appear in my library. The problem isn't the plot, just the presentation.
