As the daughter of a duke, Lady Josephine has a long list of responsibilities, and an even longer list of things she must never do to dishonor the family name. Josephine knows exactly which side becoming an author falls upon, but she's determined to try her hand at it anyway. For months she has worked on her novel in secret, writing chapter after chapter of intrigue and romance. Unfortunately for Josephine, her sworn enemy stumbles upon her secret.

Sir Andrew Wycomb's close relationship to the Duke of Montfort's family and heir gives him more than one advantage in life. His loyalty to the family is absolute, even if he finds at least one of its members an annoyance. He and Lady Josephine have never seen eye to eye. But when he discovers that she's written a novel upon a subject she knows nothing about, he cannot help but sympathize with her dream. This creates an unlikely ceasefire between them.

But things at the castle are always changing, and when a determined suitor arrives to court Josephine, Andrew has to decide which secrets he's going to keep. Especially when he discovers the one he's kept even from himself—that perhaps he doesn't find Josephine an annoyance at all. In fact, she is quite charming. The more time they spend together, the more he hopes she will realize they aren't enemies, and they could be so much more....

I read this book about 18 months ago and just finally gave the audiobook a listen. I really enjoyed the narrator and all her wonderful voices and characterizations. It felt like I was hearing the story for the first time.

I love all of Sally's books and her Clarivior series is particularly witty and sweet. I appreciate how the heroine came across as strong-willed and determined rather than petulant and young as she could have in an audiobook. I will be listening to the others in the future!

Excellent Narration

Cute story. Kept my interest. It is my favorite in the series so far! Sweet kisses, not too detailed, which I appreciate. I enjoyed the main characters!

This is another in the castle series by Sally Britton. Andrew is a family friend, who has been adopted into the family, close to the oldest son's age. Josephine is the eldest daughter, with a secret. The two of them have been frenemies for years and years. Pranks and bantering have been their relationship for ever. But somehow, things seem to be changing.

The bantering between the two of these characters is so fun. I loved it! Watching them grow in caring for each other was fun. I loved how so many around them knew where things were headed before they did. A fun, enjoyable read, set with the backdrop of the 1819 politics and unrest in England.

The narrator did a good job.

I have absolutely loved this series (and pretty much all the other books Sally has written)! They all leave you with a happy ending!
The characters were so fun and their dialogue was just the best! I laughed out loud a few times. It is refreshing to read a regency with a family that loves and supports each other instead of some awful parents who want to marry their daughter off to some jerk.
You could read this as a stand-alone, but if you want to fully enjoy it I would read the others in the series first.
I also listened to the audio version of this book and the narrator did a fantastic job! It was so much fun to listen to while running errands and doing chores.

Fantastic, well done
