Survival is just the beginning.

What's left of his homeland has fallen apart, so John Beck helps lead a migration north to a better future. But the trek to safety might be more dangerous than the places and people he's left behind. Can he navigate a wilderness in which brutality rules and hope is a dream? And if he succeeds, is wait awaits him and those he leads true salvation or is it a fool's paradise? Better Late is the fourth installment of The Crusader EMP post-apocalyptic survival series and is perfect for fans of Franklin Horton, Ryan Schow, Kyla Stone, Jack Hunt, and AR Shaw.

I listen to all of Tom Abrahams stories. He is a master at creating characters you want to know or …

Love the series

Sometimes when I go to write a review, I’m at a loss for words. Not because the book is terrible but because it was as good as I expected and more. I love reading Abrahams’s books; he’s able to fit so many different things into each title and come up with new and unique ways to mess up the world in each other series. In The Crusader series, we’ve met a man with demons and his extraordinary daughter doing everything she can to help people survive.

I don’t believe it’s a spoiler, but skip this paragraph if you’re worried – I love that Better Late was part of the main characters’ journey north and part prequel before D-Day. The prequel was a reminder of how bad it was when it started since it was from Beck’s daughter’s point of view. Hearing about the attack on the house from book one, how she got away, etc., all from her POV, was really… rewarding as a reader of Abrahams’s books. I applaud him for including it because it felt like he knew his readers wanted to know about it.

He could bounce back and forth throughout the story, and I got blindsided entirely when it ended. I was reading along, following their journey, and all of a sudden, BAM, the story was over. Now, that does not happen to me much in books. I have a pretty good idea of where I am, how much time is left, etc. But I was just so caught up in the story at the end that I figured it would keep going. It’s a cliffhanger but not the kind that makes me angry. It’s more of a newscaster/news station’s ability to get you to stick around for the story. I definitely want to hear more about the journey and what comes next, but if the story ended here for some reason, I’d also be fine.

Part Backstory. Part Journey.

The author is impressive with consistent writing and he has a couple book series that are in my top 5 in this genre. Can’t wait for the 5th book.

Very good addition

Good storyline and nice to have the back story pull the whole series together with a realistic explanation of what could actually happen.

Hope

I love this series and was excited to read book 4. Usually in these types of series book 4 is where you lose interest. Well, not in this book!! And what are these reviews about "woke" storylines? I saw none of these and I'm old school military family, not woke. Millie had to survive and she became a confident leader. Her dad respected and deferred to her; that's not woke. I'm ready to read the final book next!

Awesome book in the series ignore woke warnings
