I could 100% live without the sound effects but they did make it a lot funnier. Once you get used to them the whole book was just hilariously funny and I wish I was more mature than I am, but allowing myself, a little immaturity in the face of ridiculous humor, was 100% worth it

I couldn't finish it. the sound effects was just too distracting. if there is a copy of the story without them I'd be interested. the story seemed like your run of the mill litrpg. the fact that the characters fell into their roles so readily actually prevented me from suspending my disbelief and I had a hard time getting into it.

why the sound effects?

We are two Americans moving to Australia and thought we could learn about the culture, slang, good, etc. Boy did we get more than we bargained for! A joyride of a story with characters we're endeared to and more laughs out loud than I can remember coming from any book! Thank you for the adventure, imagination, the puns, Aussie-isms, and laugh after laugh.

SO MUCH FUN! Just a great time and we don't even play (DnD)

I probably would have really enjoyed the book if it weren't for the overdone sound effects. I'm pretty sure 1/4 of the book was sound effects. you don't need to mimic the sound of someone drinking a latte every time someone's drinking a latte.

f*** the sound effects
