The Mulligan is a unique story about a common man. Rich in emotion and filled with unforgettable characters,The Mulligan winds its way across America's heartland as master storyteller Nathan Jorgenson uses the life of Joe Mix to weave a tapestry colored with laughter, pain, and redemption.

After investing much of his life in an unhappy marriage and an unfulfilling career, Dr. Joe Mix realizes that he made most of the important decisions of his life in order to please others, not himself. He married a woman he never loved because she had a stronger will than him. He chose a career that he wasn't interested in because he knew it was what his father expected of him.

When the consequences of his wrong decisions threaten to smother him, Joe Mix finally snaps and decides to forsake all that he has done, and sets out to reclaim the life he feels he should have chosen.

The ensuing odyssey carries him to his childhood home in South Dakota, a cattle ranch in Montana, and ultimately to the end of the road; the banks of a trout stream.

We all wonder what our lives could have been, Joe Mix went looking for his life.

I really enjoyed the story and the characters ! It helped me get some insight and put words to some feelings I have been having. It was cathartic, funny, and heart-wrenching. I really enjoyed the narration as well.

This is one of my all time favorite books. Hell, maybe I’m shallow and simple minded but I identified with the main character and really liked the development of the characters and story. I’ve given 8 or 10 copies of the Mulligan to friends and gotten great reviews back for most of them. I got a call for one of the recipients whose initial greeting was “ YOU SON OF A BITCH!!! You never told me this book was going to have me laughing like a crazy person one minute and crying in heartbreaking sobs the next! I’m in an airport gate and people around me are ready to call security“
Hope you enjoy the book as much as I did!

This was SO bad... desperately needed editing. clumsy bad phrases repeated often, painful descriptions of amorous thoughts and feelings. The idea of the story was fine, just poorly executed...
