A shunned princess. A reluctant king. A marriage that could save both their kingdoms...but destroy their hearts.

Though she is the oldest daughter, Princess Faraine lives in the background, shunned from court and kept out of sight. Her chronic illness makes her a liability to the crown, and she has learned to give place to her beautiful, favored younger sister in all things.

When the handsome and enigmatic Shadow King comes seeking a bride, Faraine is not surprised that her sister is his choice.

Though not eager to take a human bride, King Vor is willing to do what is necessary for the sake of his people. When he meets the lively Princess Ilsevel, he quickly agrees to a marriage arrangement.

So why can’t he get the haunting eyes of her older sister out of his head?

Passionate and alluring, Bride of the Shadow King is an arranged marriage tale with dual points-of-view (his and hers). The first book in a new fantasy romance series, this sweeping tale of love and betrayal is perfect for listeners looking for a touch of spice to go with the sweet in their next swoony, slow-burn romance.

there was a lot going on in this story. from a psychological point of view of understanding what it's like to be different and ostracized for your difference and not seen as Who You Are or who you could be and because of that you start to believe and self doubt yourself and your own possibilities. and then not standing up for what you know is right because you don't have the ability to what others who pretty much rule you in a sense but you have Choice even in the times when you don't think you have a choice and I think that's a lesson that's kind of learned in this story that when you think you're oppressed you still have a way to fight even if it's a freedom physically but

I really enjoyed this story. It wasn’t exactly what I expected but I was pleasantly surprised that especially the supporting characters that other authors would have falling into over used troupes of being villains in disguise doesn’t seem to be the case here and I’m all for it.

Not what I expected

Great story overall. The language, storytelling and worldbuilding was great! Very imaginative and woven together so nicely. However I felt it lacking in the romance department. I understand having to set up the story and the stakes, but the characters didn't marry until the later half of the book and its about being the Shadow King's bride. It was maybe a little too slow in that aspect (definitely a slooow burn). I'd read more from this author to enjoy the fantasy but im not quite sold on the romance.

Great worldbuilding, very slow romance
