AMAZING!

I am binging my way through all of this authors books as we speak and this one just grabbed me by the heart. Fantastic coming-of-age hero. Can not wait to see where this heads!

Fun young adult story

I really enjoyed this story! The only thing I wish is that there were more strong female characters.

Enjoyable

After listening to the Doc Holliday series I was interested to find an extension of a few of the characters in this new storyline.

I don’t understand the appeal of a complaining, whiny 13yo boy for hours

I love the Doc Holliday series. He talks about Andrew so much and I was hoping for more Doc like stories. I made it halfway and couldn’t stand it anymore. He does nothing but complain and whine about his situation and how he can’t do anything. Imagine taking a 13 yo boy snowflake kid and thrusting him into the Wild West . You listen to the same thing for hours : “it’s a dream it must be a dream I’ll pinch myself ahhh it didn’t work this is crazy I wish I were home in my bed but I’ll wake up and it will be fine because it’s a dream it must be a dream”. “Why do I have to do thus I can’t do this I can’t do anything I’m not good at anything.” Add in Pecos commentary: “Sissy city boy! City boy!! you’re hopeless! Stop that! I swear if you…. I will….” And “I don’t want to! Why do I have to?! I’m not you ! I’m nobody I can’t do anything!”
If that was annoying you’ll have a hard time listening. I made it 4 hours. I kept thinking it has to get better, this can’t be it. And maybe it does but based on how little has changed so far I think this magical coming of age story has a very long arc. Maybe if I start in book 5 it will be interesting.
It is not poorly written, as stories go everything is fine. I just don’t want to listen to whiny 13 yo hour after hour

impressed with voice talent. not so much with story.

flat and slow for adult listening. got quite a ways in before worldview started being planted into dialog. if this is written for pre teens it is very careful to pull them into animism and equality of species. quite god-less and disregards the special creation of man. I'm sure I'll get some haters for saying these things but having had children and worked with kids I can say with confidence that this contains paradigm poison.
