What a mismatch

It took awhile to get into the story because the narrator was terrible. Flat, boring, no differentiation between voices, mood, inflection or sound. If there is another book in the series and the voice is the same I just can’t buy it.

1.5x speed

The narration was very slow. I listen to a lot of books (~300/10 years), and this was one of the few I sped up the playback speed to 1.5x

That aside,... life's necessities forced me to have to stop during Volume 1 many times and pick up the book back after several days/weeks. That may be part of the reason that the story started slow for me, IDK whether it was my schedule that allowed me to start listening more consistently, or that the story just got much more interesting, but I thoroughly enjoyed the series from halfway through Volume 1 and for the remainder of the 3 volumes and short stories,
