On The Business Show on Marlow FM on 6th Oct 22, David Horne of Kehorne and business development and online marketing expert Paul Wakefield joined me to talk about their businesses, and to discuss a range of business news stories.
Connect with David at https://www.linkedin.com/in/davidkehorne/ - his website is at https://kehorne.co.uk/. Paul’s profile is https://www.linkedin.com/in/impaulwakefield/ - see more about him at https://www.paulwakefield.biz/ .
Both of my music choices were by Kiki Dee – I’ve had the pleasure of meeting her, and also of meeting the man who wrote “Amoureuse”. Hear it at https://youtu.be/3GSFJXSbE90 .
I spoke to Paul about his work with business owners, taking them from ordinary to extra-ordinary, be that from a personal coaching perspective, or business coaching.
David then talked about his web development business Kehorne, and in particular about how they are working more with agencies within the marketing sector, and how that works well for them, for the agency and for the client.
To mark National Poetry Day, David chose “One for the Road” by Arctic Monkeys, because the lyrics are poetry. Judge for yourself at https://youtu.be/qN7gSMPQFss or just read the poetic lyrics at https://genius.com/Arctic-monkeys-one-for-the-road-lyrics .
His story for us to discuss is at https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-63116235 - influencers, and the morals and ethics around them.
Paul chose Bob Marley with “One Love” because right now we all need to come together and support each other. Listen at https://youtu.be/vdB-8eLEW8g .
We then talked about three stories which are very much linked. The first is at https://www.bucksfreepress.co.uk/news/23008560.high-wycombe-indian-restaurant-opening-soon-crendon-street/ - we talked about whether now is the right time to start any business, let alone one in the hospitality sector, and on “the High Street”.
https://www.bucksfreepress.co.uk/news/22902703.plans-demolish-oxford-road-stores-build-apartments-high-wycombe/ which I found is about a different use of “the High Street” with a number of pros and cons, and we wrapped up talking about Paul’s find at https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-tayside-central-62807311 - how “cooperatition” could help the High Street.
I closed with another Kiki Dee track – “I’ve Got The Music” – listen at https://youtu.be/SsNl9zaWJdQ .
