    Apr 20 2024
“The Church is communion with Jesus.” The Catechism shows us what it means for the Church to be considered the “body of Christ”. Fr. Mike explains how being part of the Church makes us “united in him, in his body”—more intimately connected with Jesus than even the Apostles were. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 787-791. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. God draws people to himself and makes them his own. The Catechism shows us what makes God’s people different from everyone else, and what it is that unites them. Fr. Mike hones in on what exactly it is that the People of God do, and exhorts us to start doing that right here, today. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 781-786. • Day 109: Mystery of Union With God (2024)
    Apr 18 2024
Do we love the Church? Some of us might struggle with that idea, but Fr. Mike explains that if we are to love and live in accordance with the heart of Jesus, we must love what he loves. Jesus, the bridegroom, loves his bride, the Church, so we must love the Church. We also learn that the sacraments are not only signs but also the very instruments by which the Holy Spirit gives us the grace of Christ. Today’s readings are Catechism paragraphs 772-780. Wonderful journey begins!

I have been waiting for this to come out ever since I first heard it might be done. The enthusiasm of Fr. Mike Schmitz is perfect to accompany what might otherwise drift into dry pedagogy at times. I find joy in learning about the Catholic faith in many ways by sharing the journey with Fr. Mike. I also trust him to be a conscientious guide who will ensure I consider aspects of the faith that, left to my own reading, I would likely ignore or not realize.

I can't wait to share this journey with other listeners and my mother and I plan to listen each day and reflect on what we learn.

What a great way to start 2023!

Cradle Catholic for 58 years Learning Anew

I'm learning so much about the Church that I didn't learn in my years of Catholic school. I'm so glad I decided to listen to my twin sister and start this journey. It is increasing my faith and explaining so much about the Church that I have always loved. I restarted the Bible in a Year as well which has made it even better.

The only drawback is the rapid speech of Fr. Mike so I have to stop and relisten as I take notes. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Today is day 88 and my audible app only goes to day 87 so the app isn't getting the updates. I'm having to go to Youtube to get today's excerpt. It happened last week, as well.

Thank you Fr. Mike and Ascension Press for this amazing resource. I'm praying for you as you are praying for me!

Fr. Mike Schmitz

Into the day 100's now and starting to appreciate Fr Mike Schmitz's diolog and explanations more, as some of the material is tough at first to understand. The book itself is incrdible and ALL should go thru this. Jesus is real, has been seen, and is sitting in heaven ready to pour the Holy Spirit upon us when we ask for help. I have experienced the help and it too is real and really works! Can't think of anything better to be doing at this time in my life. :) Audible gives us the ability to go back (over and over again)... until we get it.
