  • 1 More Thing Podcast #021: Murdock
    May 7 2024

THIS is what it takes to run a massive festival...

Please welcome Murdock to the 1 More Thing podcast. DJ, producer and promoter behind some of the biggest raves in European bass culture - Rampage!

An OG of the Belgian scene, Murdock takes the time to share his journey from how he created opportunities for his earliest DJ sets... And how that effectively led to the humungous 20,000+ capacity events he and his team are responsible for now.

This is a truly unique insight into a life dedicated to music and boosting it to the biggest audiences he possibly can, and all the hard work and sacrifices involved behind the scenes along the way.

Join us for this inspiring conversation then join us for our biggest festival takeover to date at Rampage Open Air. The event takes place from July 4-7 and we'll be there on Saturday July 6 with a dream line-up: Arcando, Basstrick B2B Michael Sparks, Camoufly, flowanastasia & Tyr Kohout, In The Lab Recordings, Joker B2B Sir Spyro Ft P Money, Mia Koden. Requake, Zero & Tempa T. Oh gosh!

  • 1 More Thing Podcast #020: Ed Rush
    Apr 17 2024

30 years deep into a benchmark-setting career, drum & bass jungle producer Ed Rush has only just released his debut solo album... Truth be told? He was having too much fun collaborating to even consider one!

From his time with the pioneering No U-Turn collective to his enduring tenure with Optical and the Virus family, music has always been a social experience for the London artist but events in 2020 took Ed - real name Ben Settle - in a more introspective direction... And led to a new creative perspective on his art, himself and the scene.

Two years back into the turbulent post-covid raving landscape, with a growing renaissance for the heavy, tech-flavoured drum & bass and his and Optical's Virus label currently celebrating 25 years, Ed Rush finds himself in an exciting and energised position. The dust still settling on his Light Of The Void album - released on Black Sun Empire's label Blackout - Dave Columbo Jenkins caught up with him to discuss everything from drum & bass to delta waves to daddying and everything in between.

  • 1 More Thing Podcast #019: CLIQUES
    Apr 3 2024

    The Podcast Experiences Of... CLIQUES

Welcome to the 19th episode of the 1 More Thing Podcast where Dave Columbo Jenkins sits down with an act who have, until recently, have maintained a strong air of masked anonymity.

Emerging in 2020 with a brazen sonic style, a production level that belies their newcomer status and a strong connection with cult retro soap opera character Barry Evans, CLIQUES have done things entirely on their own terms.

Carving their own unique place with a technique they describe as renegade art, the UK south coast trio have commandeered every subgenre of drum & bass, avoiding pigeonholes and landing them on labels such as Hospital, Breakbeat Kaos, Get Hype, Ram, their own imprint CCA and, most recently, Born On Road - Buried, featuring Eksman.

It was their previous EP however that set the scene for this podcast interview. Entitled Life Experiences Of, the EP features Genesis Elijah, Grim Sickers, Vio.let, LU:KE and Sammy Sapphire and was created in collaboration with CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) It comes with a powerful message that taps into some of their lowest and most vulnerable emotional experiences. It doesn't matter how low you feel, you can still get back up on top and there will always be help no matter how dark things feel.

A one-of-a-kind body of work in drum & bass and a release that reveals them on a whole new personable level, Paul and Phil CLIQUES embraced this special moment last month and take part in this, their deepest interview of their career so far. Enjoy.
