She's always been off-limits. He's always just out of reach.

Falling in love with Gabe Anderson was as easy as breathing. Fighting my feelings for my brother’s best friend was agonizingly hard. I never imagined giving in to my desire for him would cause such a destructive ripple effect. That kiss was my grasp at a lifeline—something, anything to hold me steady in my crumbling life. Now, I have to suffer with the fallout while trying to convince him it’s all worth the consequences.

Guilt overwhelms me—over what I’ve done, the lives I’ve taken, and more than anything, over my feelings for Skye Hawke. Craving my best friend’s little sister is insanely self-destructive. It never should have happened, but since the moment she kissed me, I haven’t been able to get her out of my mind. If I take what I want, I risk losing everything. If I don’t, I’ll lose her and a piece of myself. The raging storm threatening to rain down on the city is nothing compared to the one that will come from my decision.

Love can be torture, but sometimes, love is the only thing that can save you.

Tortured Skye is the second book in The Hawke Family Series. While it is a complete story, it is not meant to be listened to as a standalone. The story of the Hawke siblings all build on one another and are intertwined. They need to be listened to in order to fully enjoy and understand the plots.

This is the second book in The Hawke Family series. This is Skye’s book. It is a brother’s best friend trope. These books can be read as standalone books but I don’t suggest it. Gabe is Savage’s best friend and business partner. They have been through a lot together. Gabe is battling major PTSD from the recent events involving Savage and his wife. Skye is no longer a young girl. She is a drop dead gorgeous woman. Skye has secretly been in love with Gabe for ten years. She is not handling Star’s death well. They help each other through the tough times and come out stronger. Will they loose Savage along the way? Loved this book can’t wait for Storm’s book!

Emotionally gripping, full of angst, passion, and love neither will divulge for the other. I just wanted to scream at Gabe and Skye to just get over theirselves, because it was painful knowing they belonged together, and could in fact help each other heal the burdens they'd been fighting for years. Gabe fought the pull because Skye is his best friend's sister and their family were his surrogate family, but alas the feelings that just got stronger couldn't be ignored. And when danger appears on the horizon,
who will rescue who? After some action and suspense to put it all in perspective, love wins. A tortured veteran, a tortured survivor, a love great enough to put them back together. Great narration to bring it to life from Lee Daniels and Dash Coleman.

I thoroughly enjoyed this second installment. While it can be read as a standalone, I think you'll enjoy it more if read in order. I know having the backstory between Gabe, Skye, and her brother Savage helped bring the conflicts they were all feeling to life. The narration was fantastic, and overall I think I enjoyed this one's story even better than the first. It's definitely worth a credit! Enjoy!

I am loving Gwyn McNamee's books. She writes well with great storylines and wonderful characters. I've easily become invested in the Hawk family. My heart ached for Gabe and Skye. I was holding my breath at the end. Seeing characters from previous books adds so much to a series. I can't wait for the next book.

Lee Daniels and Dash Coleman are excellent narrators. They performed this perfectly, bring the characters to life. It rolled like a movie in my head.

This is the second book in the Hawke Family Series. I liked Gabe and Sky's story. This is a great brother's best friend romance. This story has it all: forbidden romance, angst, suspense, drama, and twists and turns. Lee Daniel and Dash Coleman did a great job bringing this story to life. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listening to Stone Sober, the next book in the series. #StoryOrigin #PFPAudio
