The Earl of Hawick has secrets. Some of them private, some of them a matter of state.

Daniel MacPherson has inherited his title from one father, the truth from another. When he tracks down his biological father's surviving relations, the Mullens and O’Briens love him instantly and unconditionally. But Daniel has a secret. A second life that takes him abroad into a web of danger and deception. It is only when he crosses paths with his cousin Aidan that he realizes just how close those family bonds have become. And what he and his cousin are willing to do in the name of love.

Hawick is book nine in the bestselling series The O'Brien Tales. It contains adult content of a sensual nature as well as strong language and violence. Listener discretion is advised.

Our fearless, favored author has written yet another compelling story with characters that make you laugh, cry and cheer for, while continuing to weave the wonderful O'Brien clan, their mates and offspring into the saga! Can't wait for the next book!!

Another Fabulous Story

Even though it’s clear from early in the book that the lead characters will fall in love and marry, Reynolds leads you through intrigue to get there. I particularly love how there’s always a visit to Doolin in the story. I spend every summer in Ballyvaughan, only a short distance from Doolin and have been to the pubs many times. 💗

Another wonderful O’Brien story!

Absolutely love Stacey Reynolds books. I highly recommend reading! I am almost done and am already sad I’ll be finished

Great series

The court ruling gave me ptsd to my own happenings in the custody of my daughter… well done storytelling

Love the tie in to the whole O’Brien tales

I have been absolutely in LOVE with all of the characters in the O’Brien family (except Alannah whose bad southern accent gets on my nerves in a big way), and while I liked this book, I didn’t LOVE it the way I have all the others. I just didn’t feel drawn to the main characters in this story — Danny, Andrew and Ermit.

The book did get better as it went on (the second half). It was very clever how the author tied in Major Aiden O’Brien with Danny (aka Johnny). That connection brought in several of the other much-loved O’Brien characters.

What happened to Aiden — my heart was in my throat!🙀 I can’t say more without spoiling a big part of the storyline for other readers (it’s killing me to not disclose any details)! Even though Alonnah is not my most favorite character, my heart was right there with her.💕

The ending with little Erin made me have to get out a Kleenex! So sweet!!

So, after reading this book, I have to wonder if the final book will deal with Aiden and Alonnah’s son, Colin and HIS emerging talents??? I kind of hope so, but all along throughout the series, I have found myself hoping the last book in the series would feature Cora and HER special gift…🙏. Maybe Finn and BOTH his children working together?

If the last book doesn’t feature this part of the family and their special talents, I hope Ms. Reynolds will consider adding another book to this fantastic series — I’m just not READY for the upcoming final book in this series. I am very sad about the inevitable goodbye to the O’Brien family, who now feel like old friends and part of my own family.

As always, Justine Eyre does excellent work in this book, but there is not nearly as much of the beautiful Irish lilt which she does SO beautifully. I find her English speaking voice to be a little choppy and not nearly as pleasant to listen to as her Irish brogue.

MIXED FEELINGS ABOUT THIS ONE…
