    Thank you for your interest in the BVB London Fan Community Podcast. In each episode, we focus on discovering a facet of Borussia Dortmund's life in the podcast by talking to experts and former participants in the club's life such as players, fans, coaches or even journalists who have influenced this club in its development.

    Our guests on the podcast today,  a UEFA European Championship 2024 preview, are Nick Rayner, chief football writer of The Yorkshire Post newspaper, and Andreas Gschaider, a Munich-based football entrepreneur. 

    Stuart Rayner the author and chief football writer of the Yorkshire Post newspaper. Stuart is also a specialised cricket writer and the author of two books 'Five Trophies and a Funeral' and 'War of the Roses'.

    Andreas Gschaider, is the founder of football training app B42, the app which was created together with the DFB, the German national team, Physio Oliver Schmidtlein. B42 is a specialist training app which allows players to put together training programmes designed to optimise training and recovery, as well as nutritional advice. The app is used by over 1,000 teams including 1. FC Nürnberg, Werder Bremen and VfB Stuttgart in 21 countries. 

    The draw for the UEFA European Championship 2024 took place on Saturday and the hosts are in a group A which includes Scotland. Whilst England are in group C with amongst others Denmark. 

    The tournament takes place across 8 stadia across Germany including Dortmund's Signal-Iduna-Park (Westfalenstadion) from the 14 June to July 14th.

    The twenty-four teams are divided into 8 groups of 4 teams; groups A to F. The qualified teams are: England, Scotland, France, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Albania, Serbia, Romania, Switzerland, hosts Germany, Croatia, Portugal, Czechia, Slovenia, Belgium, Slovenia, Netherlands, Slovakia, and Turkiye.

    Four teams of the remaining play-offs between the best placed third place finishers i.e Israel, Poland, Luxembourg, Wales, Iceland and Kazakhstan. The playoff will take place in March.    

    The tournament is the biggest tournament in Germany since FIFA World Cup 2006, this is Germany's second European tournament after 1988 which was won by outsiders Denmark.  

    The podcast is a group by group preview and a look at Julian Nagelsmann team, and the prospects for the tournament in Germany. As well as a look at the Borussia Dortmund players who are expected to take part. 

    1. Germany's group A Switzerland, Hungary, Scotland and the hosts. 

    2. Group B the group of death Spain, Croatia, Albania, Italy.

    3. England's group C Slovenia, Serbia, Denmark.

    4. Group D France, Austria, Netherlands and a play-off qualifier which could be Wales, Finland, Poland or Estonia. 

    5. Group E Belgium, Slovakia, Netherlands and a play-off qualifier which could be Ukraine, Bosnia-Herzengovina, Israel or Iceland. 

    6. Group F Portugal, Czechia, Turkey and winner of play-off c which could be either Greece, Georgia, Luxembourg or Kazakhstan.

    8. World Cup 2006 was a huge success for Germany but the country is in an  economic downturn how are preparations going and is the country looking forward to the tournament?

    Vielen Dank für euere Interesse am BVB London Fan-Community-Podcast. In jeder Episode geht es uns in der Sendung darum, eine Facette des Lebens von Borussia Dortmund im Gespräch mit Experten und ehemaligen Teilnehmern des Vereinslebens wie Spielern, Fans, Trainer oder auch Journalisten, die diesen Verein in seiner Entwicklung beeinflusst haben, in der Podcast zu entdecken.

    Unser Gast ist heute, Bachirou Salou, er spielte beim BVB als Stürmer zwischen 1998-99. 

    Der in Lome geborene ehemaliger Spieler, absolvierte 39 Einsatze und schoss dabei 17 Tore  im Kader der Nationalmannschaft von Togo.

    Er machte 340 Profispiele unter anderem bei  BVB, MSV Duisburg, Borussia Moenchengladbach, Eintracht Frankfurt, Hansa Rostock und Alemannia Aachen und machte dabei 69 Tore. 

    1. 'Kindheit in Togo, ersten Spiele und der Sprung in den Profifussball bei Omnisport Lome.  

    2. Saison 1990-95 Wechsel zu Borussia Moenchengladbach in die Bundesliga. Ein Traumstart mit beachtlichen 86 Spiele in die Profimannschaft und 13 Tore. Mit Mitspieler Heiko Herrlich und Stefan Effenberg, highlights und Tore. EIn 7-1 gegen VfL Bochum, Pokalsieg 1995. 

    3.1995-98 Wechsel zum MSV Duisburg mit Alfred Nijhuis, Carsten Wolters, ein 5-2 beim 1. FC Koeln, das Leben mit Trainer Friedhelm Funkel und Hannes Bongartz.

    4. Pokalfinale im Olympiastadion gegen den 'Rekordmeister' (Bayern). 

    6. 1998-99 Einer Saison bei Borussia Dortmund mit Juergen Kohler, Julio Cesar, Steffen Freund, Andreas Moeller,  Stephane Chapusiat, Stefan Klos, Ibrahim Tanko und Trainer Michael Skibbe; Highlights und Qualifikation fuer die Champions League. 

    7. Saison 1999-00 Eintracht Frankfurt mit Jan Åge Fjørtoft und Trainer Joerg Berger und Felix Magath.  

    8.  2000-03 Hansa Rostock in der Bundesliga mit Trainer Armin Veh.

    09. Unterwegs mit Togo, Berufung in die Nationalmannschaft. 1998 African Cup of Nations, 2:1 gegen Ghana.

    Our guest today is, Tom Middler, the Austrian-based football journalist is the presenter of the podcast 'The Other Bundesliga' a show focussed on the Austrian top tier which has had more than 100,000 downloads.

    Tom has worked as a presenter with UEFA and the AFC (Asian football federation) and studied at University of North Carolina. He also worked for 32-time Austrian champions Rapid Wien.
