Before World War II could reach its conclusion, the world suffered what could only be defined as a cataclysm.

Legend has it that an experiment failed. Catastrophically so. And when it failed, the center of the United States, from the Sierra Nevada to the Mississippi river became "The Waste", where everything changed.

Except, it didn't only happen in North America. In fact, it happened all around the world.

Few places were spared, though only a handful experienced it as deeply as the United States did.

In the Wastes of the world, every fantasy creature, fairy tale demon, or mythological monster exists. From Orcs, to Neriads, Ogres, Trolls, Wraiths, Elves, Harpies, and even Beastmen. They all exist, and all despise humankind.

For North America, in the shattered bones of the country, the west and east coasts new governments have rose, then fell.

Vince has become the master of a major portion of the Wastes of North America. Responsible for everything and everyone inside his boundaries. There is little that doesn’t fall under his purview.

He's delivered the world-view of Yosemite to Europe.

Or more specifically, the Iberian peninsula.

Waging a war to free the inhabitants from an oppressive regime that believes all magic is wrong.

Every form of magical ability is a crime, and the only punishment is death.

Vince is going to close out his appeal to their judicial system with vengeance, all while giving them a heavy taste of Legion technology.

An appeal that’ll change the lives of everyone across the whole of Europe.

Amazing all the way around as always.
Stephanie Savannah did a GREAT job. I admit it took me a bit to settle into the characters new voices. Thats probably bc I've listened to all these series so many times that I can't even go to the grocery store and walk by a box of pancake mix without hearing "PANCAKES" in my head :)

just like all the other books in the verse it just keeps getting better and betted. Everything is building to a boiling point! i cannot wait to see well listen to what's next. I started listening to Randi Darren 5 years ago with Wild Wastes 1, so this has a soft spot in my heart and it is well earned. HIGHLY Recommend going to his Facebook and seeing his listen/read order for these books and getting started! soooo worth it.

Story is good.

The story was good and continues to wind down the overall total story. As well, nice seeing how much the Campbell brothers are alike. It was nice hearing the parallels of the stories and really getting the sense of where they intertwine.

I will say this, Stephanie does a great job in her series, but not in this one. I do hope that for 6, we can get Andrea back to wrap up the story in a voice we all know. Whereas Nick had 4 books verses Jeff's one (and I have to admit I like Nick more now), I don't think Stephanie will be with this series long enough to grow comfortable with the changes. If Andrea can come back, I'd even be willing to donate more to see it happen.
