In search of respite, China takes off to St. Theresa's Monastery with her friend Maggie, a former nun. The goal is a brief, tranquil retreat—but there's a conflict at the convent. The Mother Superior has recently died, and a battle over the future of St. Theresa's suggests that her sudden demise might not have been accidental. Now, China's quest for a replenished spirit takes second place to a more earthbound pursuit: catching a killer.

I always love China Bayles mysteries. This one, in particular, reminded me of the spiritual retreats I've been to a few times at a nearby monastery. In this mystery, China is taking a break and getting away from her everyday life, and in the process, gets pulled into solving a murder mystery right there at the convent. There were many twists and turns and this was a satisfying read.

Felt Like I was going on a Spiritual Retreat

Well, I found it an interesting concept,
having a murder mystery in a rectory, , the narrators performance was so unnatural and she voices the characters so poorly, it really took away from the entire book.
. I plan on reading it. I think that I can get a better take on it. Her portrayal of Ruby in particular was so artificial. I couldn’t wait until that character left the story. I can’t recommend this audio but I do recommend you buy the book

Interesting story, appalling narration

Least favorite in the series thus far. I found the storyline just blah. The narrator was okay as usual.

Boring
