Murder, Mystery and a dog of distinction

Book 8 in the Heathcliff Lennox series.

Major Heathcliff Lennox is called in, along with ex Detective Inspector Swift, to help the police investigate a macabre death. The dead man is Lord De Ruyter, a man inextricably linked to the notorious Birdcage Murders.

Nothing is as it appears, witnesses to De Ruyter's murder are not the strangers they purport to be, everyone present had a reason to be there and it all relates to the Birdcage Murders.

Major Heathcliff Lennox—ex WW1 war pilot, 6' 3", tousled dark blond hair, age around 30—named after the hero of Wuthering Heights by his romantically minded mother—much to his great annoyance.

I love this series!!! And the narrator is outstanding! I’d love to see this come to the silver screen! And I’ll keep one clicking anything in this series. Can’t recommend it enough!

So many twists and turns!

The Birdcage Murders is a fantastic addition to Karen Baugh Menuhin's Heathcliff Lennox Investigates series - I was kept guessing until the denouement, and was actually a little surprised, lol! Narrator Sam Dewhurst-Phillips IS Lennox, and I eagerly anticipate each new audio release in one of my fave cozy series. Not only is he Lennox, however, he's everyone else, too - he perfectly embodies each and every character. I can't recommend this book and series, and especially the Audible version, enough!!! A+++

Because of bad narration I have several unfinished books on Audible. That’s never going to be a problem with a book read by Sam Dewhurst-Phillips. I doubt you can find anyone out there that does voices better.
Karen Baugh Menuhin’s writing is remarkable. I find myself completely engrossed with the story, as well as chuckling with the humor found in almost each chapter. The Birdcage Murders is one more gem in the series. Spoil yourself and get all the books. You will not regret that decision.

Full cast or just great narration?

All the gang are back and in great form. The story is engaging but not the best of the series. Sam Dewhurst Phillips is a wonder bringing life and great charm to all the characters.

Great Fun

Love this series! Best narration I’ve ever experienced. Vivid and unusual main character brought to life by Sam in every book. (Don’t miss his backstory in Heathcliff Lennox 1918!). I honestly only tolerate the murder trope in these books as it is necessary for the characters and settings I do truly enjoy. But this time the crime was so startling and unique that I was astounded. Evil and brilliant. A really good read!

Unique crime and Lennox at his best
