San Diego Homicide Detective Seamus Moynihan thinks he’s seen it all when it comes to human violence, but a naked man killed in a snakebite ritual might be his most gruesome case yet....

Moynihan’s search for the killer will propel him on a journey through the underground world of ancient eroticism, black-market reptiles, and religious cults, ultimately leading him to a Biblical scholar whose theories about the dawn of time provide a surprising link to the current investigation. But can Moynihan preserve his own sanity while delving into a secret as old as Cain?

To solve this brutal case, Moynihan will have to reckon with one of the great mysteries of the ages: who was the second woman?

“Pulls you guts-first right through to the back cover. I loved this book.” (Number one New York Times best-selling author Nelson DeMille)

“A dazzling and intelligent thriller.” (Internationally best-selling author Lynn Hightower)

Great story and narration. Keeps you guessing till the very end.
A must listen for all.

Excellent!

The Second Woman by Mark T. Sullivan is going to be a new go to series for me. With Johnny Heller narrating the book is very similar to the Thomas Prescott series by Nick Pirog. Aside from the narrator (who does an outstanding job) the characters have other things in common. I won’t go into details about the similarities because I think the book can stand on its own merits.
Seamus Moynihan is the protagonist. He’s a homicide detective in San Diego. The case he’s working on is quite gruesome. His hunt for the murderer is fast paced with a few red herrings thrown in. There’s a little predictability when the killer’s sites become set on Moynihan himself. If this is to become a series I don’t think it would be a spoiler to say the the plan failed! I will say that the person’s identity was a bit of a surprise. The ending was unexpected and I wonder if it ended the way it did as a transition to a second book. Time will tell.
This book has my HIGHEST ATTENTION.

I have never learned to put a book down, but should have done it this time. I did not like the subject of this novel.

wish I'd skipped it!
