This collection contains unabridged recordings of all three volumes of Capital as well as Marx and Engels’ most famous work, The Communist Manifesto.

“In a capitalist society, the worker is a commodity."

Capital: Part history, part economics and part sociology, Karl Marx’s Capital is one of the most influential works of the 19th century and had had a profound and far-reaching influence on subsequent intellectual, political, and social history. In three volumes (the latter two edited and published posthumously by Marx’s friend and collaborator Friedrich Engels) Marx expounds his theory of the capitalist system in an incisive critique of private ownership and the social relations it generates.

Volume 1: The Process of Production of Capital
Marx examines the production process, labour value, and the exploitation inherent in capitalist systems and critiques how wealth is generated and distributed, illustrating the contradictions of capitalism and its impact on society.

Volume 2: The Process of Circulation of Capital
Continues the examination of the capitalist system, focusing primarily on the lifeblood of the capitalist economy—how capital moves through cycles of production, exchange, and reproduction and how the circulation of commodities affects the broader economy.

Volume 3: The Process of Capitalist Production as a Whole
Combines the theories and concepts explored previously in order to prove that capitalism is inherently unworkable as a permanent system for society, and is inevitably doomed to failure. He believed that these factors would instigate a revolutionary change, transitioning society toward socialism and ultimately culminating in a classless egalitarian system.

The Communist Manifesto:
Written in 1848, The Communist Manifesto lays out the principles of Marxism, analysing the historical development of class struggles and the dynamics of capitalism. Marx and Engels argue that all history is the history of class conflict, and that capitalism, like previous systems, contains the seeds of its own destruction. It remains one of the most influential political documents ever written, presenting a laser-sharp critique of inequality and presenting a vision for a radically different, classless society where "the free development of each is the condition for the free development of all."

Karl Marx (1818–1883) was a German philosopher, historian, sociologist, economist, and revolutionary socialist best known for co-authoring The Communist Manifesto and writing Das Kapital. Due to his political writings, he was forced to live in exile in London, where he continued to develop his thought in collaboration with German thinker Friedrich Engels and publish his writings. His ideas have had enormous influence on political and philosophical thought, laid the foundation for modern communism and have influenced political movements worldwide.

These books were so repetitive but provided very little evidence that capitalism is bad. it just talks about the bad conditions of workers but the course of history has shown that capitalism is the best mechanism for the poor to rise above poverty. Wish I could have the 100 hours of my life back

Boring with no evidence

Extremely intriguing concepts like labor theory of value, the consequences of women and children working in harsh conditions, and the extraction of surplus value by capitalists.

A critique of capitalism

I was looking for The Communist Manifesto without a lengthy intro by the business press, but what really takes the cake as this has ALL Das Capital Vol 1,2,3 as well as essay's, notes, intros of other Marxs editions in different languages & read to you in an English accent. Other audio versions I've seen just have Marx Capital Vol 1 requiring you to buy his other works separately so that alone makes it worth it to understand someone who ideas changed ecomonic history.

Amazing reference for all of Marx works!
