Critic reviews

"An acclaimed SFF novelist's first short-story collection... Bloodily clever and darkly comic... The many different approaches Leckie takes to her subject are amazing."—Kirkus
"There are few who write science fiction like Ann Leckie can. There are few who ever could."—John Scalzi
"Powerful."—The New York Times on Ancillary Sword
"The sort of space opera audiences have been waiting for."—NPR Books on Ancillary Sword
"No science-fiction series as descriptive of our current political and cultural moment or as insistent that we open our eyes to it."—Slate on Ancillary Mercy
"A gripping read, with top-notch world building and a set of rich subtexts about human rights, colonialism -- and (yes) hive mind sex."—io9 on Ancillary Sword
"By turns thrilling, moving and awe-inspiring."—The Guardian on Ancillary Justice
"Adjoa Andoh narrates a short story collection by Ann Leckie that includes 18 works set in the worlds of the Imperial Radch and the Raven Tower, as well as several stand-alone pieces. As a fan of the Leckie/Andoh audio combo, this collection doesn’t disappoint. Definitely a treat for a fan of Leckie, though I don’t know if it would be *as* good for someone who’s not familiar with her other work; this book enriches the worlds she’s created already while also giving us some charming one-offs. Hope there’s something in the works for 2025!

Getting to spend more time in the worlds Ann Leckie has created is a real treat, especially the stories set in the Raven Tower universe are delightful.

I love Leckie’s worlds, but the Raven Tower world is my favorite. Here she explores some of the possibilities.

Delightful

I’ve no problem with the stories or performance, but the low audio quality almost ruins it for me. Audiobooks should not sound like AM radio in 2024.

Terrible audio quality

I have read, devoured really, all of Ann Leckie's books. Her world building is compelling and immersive and character development consistently brilliant. Her commentary on identity, cultural differences/conflict, and language strike me as some of the most intelligent and thought provoking writing I have encountered. Adios Andoh's narration is equally brilliant. Andoh brings a dimension of depth and aliveness to Leslie's stories.

Amazing world building and narration
