Joy in the little things (both trout and byproducts of circumstance)

For fishermen the world beneath our feet is an amazing place and John has a beautiful and analogous way of describing it back to us. So much so that even the laundry list contents of a backpack or fishing shirt turn into praiseworthy prose. Can't get enough.

Witty and Relatable

This book was so subtlety funny and made me so amped up to go fly fish and camping. It put me in a good headspace to remember what I love in life and why I do it l.

Entertaining with lessons learned

I loved the authors style of writing. Serious with humor mixed throughout the lessons through the eyes of an avid fjyfisher are found throughout this gem of a book. A laughed and learned a lot!

Puts into words the feelings i had when is used to fly fish

This is a wonderfully written book about what it means to fly fish. There's a lot of feeling there if you catch it. However it is clear that the narrator does not fish. Some mispronounced words as well as incorrect phrasing was mildly distracting...but I'll live.
