My best friend warned me about the end of the world.

Growing up, she was the girl down the street. Even then, I knew she was different. She was tough, rough, and had the strength to stop a speeding car with her bare hands. We were as thick as thieves, sharing every adventure.

Then one day she revealed a secret. She wasn't from Earth. She was from a distant place called the Arcadia Multiverse.

Her people lived under the rule of a god-like entity known as the System.

That System had its gaze fixed on Earth. And it was only a matter of time before it came for us.

But long before the System arrived, she vanished, leaving behind only a strange token that now dangles around my neck.

Yet, her parting words stayed with me. The System was bound for Earth. And when it came, I'd be ready for it.

I would triumph over this System and the new world it brought with it. And then, perhaps, I'd see my friend again.

Loved listening to this story, reminds me of Defiance of the Fall, but with a bit more romance. The narrators did an amazing job. Looking forward to the next book.

Great First Boook

I really enjoyed the storyline. I can't wait for book 2 to make it to audiobook.

The fact that the villains came across as actual threats.

The first third of the book could have been a book by itself. Great plot all the way through with a reluctant MC who makes tough decisions.
Great action, nice romance, wicked villains.

Wow just wow

love the subtle integration of the RPG system implementation. made it feel more and more life like especially how they make the main guy more super human. the three ladies were well written as well there transformation from how they started and who they end up being at the end of the book is a great touch as well.

very well made RPG story

Truely incredible listening experience. Firstly it's almost 21 hours long. I personally think Marvin Knight should have just gone ahead and given us the next 14 minutes to make it an even 21 hours, but that's just me being greedy. Great worldbuilding. Unfortunately, just because you can build a great world and system doesn't always mean that the author can describe it well enough for us readers/listeners to picture it. This is not the case here. i felt like I could walk those streets. Well done Mr. Knight.

The overall story and pacing made it feel like a 10 - 12 hour book instead of nearly 21 hours. The narration was great. Each character had a distinct voice. All-in all I would have given this 6 stars if I could have. To anyone reading this, spend the credit with confidence. I doubt you'll regret it. Now, let's see if Marvin Knight can top this with book 2.

There should be a 6-star category for this one.
